Trinco police discover three bombs[TamilNet, Thursday, 12 August 1999, 12:11 GMT]The Special Unit of the Trincomalee Police recovered three powerful bombs buried at Sinnakulam in Thuvarankadu on the Trincomalee-Uppuveli road, three km north of the eastern port town today, police sources said. One bomb weighed 18 kg and the other two bombs 12 kg each, the sources said. They said the bombs were found on information given by the suspect arrested by the Sri Lanka Army on Tuesday at the Trincomalee railway junction checkpoint. The suspect was a Tamil youth from the Muttur area south of Trincomalee. At the time of his arrest, the police recovered four cyanide capsules from the suspect, the sources added. The Sri Lankan security forces have intensified their patrolling and are launching more cordon and search operations in the Trincomalee town and it suburbs since the arrest of the youth, the sources said.
