Prisoners on hunger strike expose ‘reconciliation’ mask of genocidal Colombo

The Prisoners of War and political prisoners on hunger strike languishing in the jails of occupying Colombo have stepped up their fast-unto-death protest on Saturday completely refusing medial treatment. The hunger-strikers learnt on Friday that the SL president Maithiripala Sirisena was not prepared to provide general amnesty to the prisoners. The hunger-strike has exposed the real faces behind the so-called good-governance personalities in the South and the one-way ‘reconciliation’ agenda they are trying to impose on Eezham Tamils, political observers in Jaffna said adding that the common public in the occupied country of Eezham Tamils, are now also able to understand the kind of Colombo-centric orchestrated politics being waged by the UN offices, diplomatic missions in Colombo and the NGOs funded by foreign governments.

Mr Sirisena was citing ‘political pressure’ as the reason for not being prepared to release the prisoners on hunger strike when he met NPC Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran on Wednesday in Colombo.

On Friday, Justice Wigneswaran told a visiting Switzerland mission from Colombo that he was not able to visit the hunger strikers without having a positive response from the SL president.

In the meantime, five hunger strikers have been forcefully admitted to prison hospital on the 6th day of their protest at Anuradhapura prison on Friday. Two of these hunger strikers were in serious condition, according to legal sources in Vavuniyaa.

The five of the hunger-striking prisoners admitted to Anuradhapura prison hospital have been identified as Jehan Rasathurai, Aravinthan Purusothaman from Jaffna and Suresh Ragavan, Kuganathan Kandiah and Sivanathan Markandu from Vavuniyaa.

Tamil-speaking people in the North and East observed a successful shutdown on Friday expressing solidarity with the prisoners on hunger-strike demanding their immediate release from the SL prisons.
