Maithiripala deploys ‘Mahaweli’, monks, military to grab Tamil lands in Ampaa'rai

The Tamil people, who are trying to resettle in their traditional villages in Poththuvil area in Ampaa'rai district complain that the continued presence of the occupying Sinhala military along the two sides of the main access road to Poththuvil Road threaten their resettlement. Tamil civil service officials observe a pattern of SL President Maithiripala Sirisena's so-called ‘Mahaweli Development’ ministry systematically deploying its departments to seize lands from Eezham Tamils in the same area. In the meantime, Sinhala Buddhist extremist monks and their operatives are seeking inroads to establish their temples in the villages where no Sinhalese are found citing they want to help Tamils to ‘confront’ occupation by Muslims.
The Sinhala military is deployed throughout Tamil areas citing ‘security reasons’ in a systematic manner. The Forest Department, coming under Maithiripala Sirisena's ‘Mahawel Development & Ministry of Environment’ is highly active in seizing lands of Eezham Tamils in Poththuvil area at several villages. Attempts to seize lands from Tamils are reported at Ku'ndu-madu (B9), Inspector-Eattam (B10), Vaddi-ve'li (B11), Changkaman-ka'ndi (B22), Koamaari/1 (B23), Koamaari/2 (B24), Kanakar-kiraamam, Oo'ra'ni and in the mixed areas of B12 and B13. The project of demographic genocide also extends to Kizhangkuch-cheanai, 60th Mile Post, Murungkanthanai and Chinthuve'li, Tamil civil officials told TamilNet. Meanwhile, the Divisional Secretary of Poththuvil, a Muslim, is working closely with the occupying Sinhala military and the SL Forest Department against allowing the Tamils to resettle in their villages, the sources further said. While doing so, he is provided access to maintain double entries of people close to him at different locations. While Buddhist monks try to bring in Sinhalese into Tamil areas citing Muslims, the SL military is working with Muslim officials to occupy Tamil lands. The main aim of Colombo is to transform the entire Eastern province a ‘mixed’ province. The Colombo Establishment is deploying all the differences to its advantage while Tamil politicians have no working programme in their hands to confront the ‘divide and rule’ tactic from Colombo, the Tamil civil officials further said.
