Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers arrested a youth, Kanthalingam Pratheepan, at Naayanmaarkaddu in Jaffna this morning. The SLA has not issued any receipt for his arrest said sources.
According to the sources, the SLA soldiers had gone home to the youth this morning around 8 a.m. and arrested his father as he (Pratheepan) was not home. Pratheepan, on hearing his father's arrest, went to the Mudamarathady SLA camp at Kalviyankadu. The soldiers detained Pratheepan and released his father. The SLA has told his parents that they should not report his arrest to any humanitarian organisation or to the Human Rights Commission the sources said. Pratheepan was taken to Ariyalai Maheswaray school this afternoon and dug up a spot behind the school. However, nothing was recovered there, the sources added.
