Rajeswary Krishnarajah, 35, mother of three was gang raped by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers at Vaalaithottam, a farming hamlet in Varani in the Thenmaradchi Division of the Jaffna Peninsula on Wednesday, September 29, according to a complaint made by Rajeswary with the Police.

Rajeswaray Krishnarajah, a widow, was sleeping with her children at her house when three SLA soldiers had come home and knocked at the door around 11 p.m. The soldiers had told that they had come to search the house. Her father and brother were also at her house at the time.

When the mother opened the door the soldiers had blind folded the father and brother, and then took her away to a nearby coconut plantation and raped her.

She was raped by two soldiers, according to her complaint.

While the soldiers were taking turns in raping her, she managed to escape from the grips of the third soldier, ran into her room and locked herself up, she further described the incident in her complaint.

The following morning the woman had gone to the Chavakachcheri hospital, where the doctor who examined her had confirmed she had been raped.
