Grenade explosion at EPDP office kills one

A member of the EPDP, identified as Kennedy, was killed in a grenade explosion at the group's office at Thirunelvely in Jaffna around 6.00 a.m. this morning, said sources.
EPDP sources said the grenade exploded accidentally. Meanwhile four persons have been arrested by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) in Jaffna according to reports filed. Kulanthaivel Sekar, 37, from Valvettithurai and Thambirajah Yogenthiram, 30, from Uduppiddy are detained at the Pt. Pedro SLA camp, their relatives informed the Human Rights Commission (HRC) in Jaffna. Kumarasamy Uthayasooriyan, 23, and Nahenthiram Thamilnesan, 20, both from from Kokkuvil have also been reported arrested by the SLA. However, it is not known where they are detained, their relatives told the HRC.
