Trincomalee intelligence chief quits

Inspector M.L.Ubaithullah who served as the officer-in charge of the Trincomalee Police Security Coordinating Unit for ten years continuously, has resigned from the force, security forces sources said yesterday.
The sources said he had served 12 years in the police force and was in charge of the intelligence unit in Trincomalee. Inspector e Ubaithullah tendered his resignation letter to the Inspector General of Police on Monday said sources. The reason for his resignation was not clear, though a few months ago he was transferred to Colombo, the sources said. Close aides of Mr.Baithullah, told TamilNet he was considering the idea of contesting the forthcoming Parliamentary elections in the Trincomalee. He hails from Kinniya town in the eastern district.
