Fighting continues in Ampakamam-Olumadu

Nine Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers, including an officer were killed and over 60 wounded today in the heavy fighting that is raging for the second day in the Ampakamam-Olumadu area said SLA sources.
Four of the wounded are officers, the sources added. According to the sources at least 35 SLA soldiers have been killed and over 130 wounded since the latest fighting broke out yesterday. The Ministry of Defence said in a statement today that over 30 Tigers were killed and several others were wounded in the fighting yesterday. According to the MoD statement "troops are in the process of pursued and consolidation." Meanwhile 'Tamil Eelam Vaanoli', the Commercial Service of the Voice of Tigers (VoT) radio said in its evening news bulletin that the Liberation Tigers continued their artillery attack on the Sri Lankan Government troops for the second day today. The radio said the fighting is continuing. Meanwhile SLA troops stationed at Elephant Pass and Paranthan launched artillery attacks towards the Kilinochchi area yesterday the radio said. Further details were not given.
