Navaly temple robbed

A daring daylight robbery at the Navaly Anthiran Murukamoorthy temple was reported to the Navaly Sri Lankan army camp by the temple's trustee board this week.

The robbers had got into the temple through its roof while it was raining heavily between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the afternoon on Dec. 7.

They had removed the temple's speaker systems, generator parts and other electronic goods. This is the second theft from the temple.

The till that was set up to collect funds for building a new Rajagopuram to the temple was broken and a very large amount of money was stolen a few weeks ago.
