Two SLA troopers killed in east

Two Sri Lanka Army soldiers were killed this morning around 9 a.m. when the tractor in which they were traveling at Kayankerni, 37 kilometers north of Batticaloa, was hit by mortar shells fired by the Liberation Tigers.

The SLA fired mortars in retaliation from its camps in the area in the direction of areas held by the Tigers.

Four civilians of a family in Mankerni, five kilometers north of Kayankerni, were wounded in shelling that followed the attack on the SLA. The family was in their house behind the Mankerni Pillaiyar temple at the time of the shelling sources said.
