One of the two Tamil youths shot dead by the Police at Anpuvallipuram, a suburb in Trincomalee town was identified as a civilian, by his wife today, hospital sources said.

Police shot dead two Tamil youths near the 'Pillaiyar' Temple at Anpuvallipuram last evening following a grenade attack. The Police claimed the youths were members of the Liberation Tigers.

Today morning a 19 year old woman, Gomathi, went to Trincomalee base hospital and identified one of the bodies as of her husband. She said her husband went to nearby 'Pillaiyar' temple Friday evening.

As her husband failed to return home on Friday night, Gomathi went to the hospital to see whether her husband was among the dead.

She identified one of the two bodies handed over by the police as of her husband, Sithiravelautham Rajeswaran (19). He was a fisherman and a father of one, said Gomathi at an inquest held by acting Magistrate M.K.Sellarajah.

She added her husband had no connection with the LTTE.

The acting Magistrate ordered the body of Rajeswaran be handed over to his wife Gomathi.

The other body lying in hospital mortuary has not been identified yet.
