Ex. Jaffna Commander heads northern authority

Major General (Rtd) Sarath Munasinghe has been appointed the chairman of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority of the North (RRAN) by the Sri Lankan government.

He has also been made the Acting Commissioner General of Essential Services (CGES).

The RRAN is responsible for approving and implementing all rehabilitation work in the north. It regulates the transport of building materials for rehabilitation and reconstruction projects in the northern province of the island.

Major Gen. Munasinghe was the Sri Lanka Army spokesman for many years. He was promoted to Major General last year and was appointed Security Forces Commander for Jaffna in 1999.
