Tigers ask civilians to move

The Liberation Tigers said that Operation Unceasing Waves III has resumed in Jaffna following a few days gap for the safe out movement of civilians, according to the Voice of Tigers broadcast monitored in Vavuniya this morning. The Tigers asked civilians in theMunicipality limits of the Jaffna town to urgentlymove out to safer areas such as Chankanai, Manipay, Siththankerni, Sandilippai and Vaddukkoddai in the Waligamam west sector of the peninsula according to the radio.
The LTTE called on the civilians who had moved out from Kilali, Kachchai, Kaithadi, Navatkuly, Chavakachcheri and Madduvil to safe areas in Meesalai,Puththur junction and Manthuvil stay on in these places until further notice. The International Committee of the Red Cross, meanwhile, said that four people were killed and nine wounded in shelling in the Jaffna town yesterday. The wounded were treated in the Jaffna Teaching Hospital a spokeman for the ICRC said. Sri Lanka army sources in the north said that there was shelling in the Jaffna town this morning but declined to give further details.
