Shell kills one

A civilian was killed and another wounded when the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) shelled Madduvil South, a village northwest of Chavakachcheri, this evening around 6.30 p.m., according to the Voice of Tigers radio.
The radio said Ganesasivam Niranjan, 24, was killed and Thushyanthi, 27, was wounded in the shelling. The radio said Sri Lanka Army had been shelling the villages of Kaithady, Navatkuli, Maravanpulavu, Madduvil and Nunavil in the Thenmaradchi sector from 10.30 a.m. today. Civilians recently wounded due to shelling have been transferred to the Mallavi hospital in the Vanni, hospital sources said. They said 9 seriously wounded civilians were transferred by the MSF personnel to the Vavuniya hospital Saturday morning and 7 were transferred to the Vavuniya hospital on Thursday, the sources added.
