Unofficial curfew in Colombo

An unofficial curfew has been imposed in the Colombo suburbs of Dehiwala, Mt.Lavinia, Ratmalane and Moratuwa from 7.30 p.m. Wednesday police sources said. Residents said there had been some incidents of arson following bomb attack in Ratmalane.

While residents said at least 3 shops belonging to Tamils have been burnt, the police have refused to confirm these reports.

Residents contacted by telephone said the situation in the area is very tense, with a large number of police and soldiers deployed in the area.
