Civilians near Jaffna firing range wounded

Two civilians near an army firing range on the southeastern coast of Jaffna were wounded by gunfire this week. Vallipuram Pakiyaraj, 63 was admitted to the Manthikai hospital in Pt.Pedro with gunshot injury last evening and Kristhurajah Kennedy, 19 was wounded in the leg on 12 August. Both are from the village of Kudaththanai.

The army has established a training base at Manalkaadu, about eight kilometers southeast of Pt.Pedro. The Kennedy and Pakiyaraj were hit by the firing at this base during training sessions. Kudaththanai is two kilometers south of Manalkadu.
