Six Razeek group cadres killed

The Razeek group brought back six bodies of their cadres who were killed in a counter ambush by the LTTE today in the Thalavai-Punnaikudah area east of Eravur, eight kilometers north of Batticaloa.

The bodies are lying in the mortuary of the Batticaloa hospital.

The Tigers had removed all the weapons from the ambush party of the Razeek group which was caught in their counter ambush.

Enraged cadres of the Razeek group beat up civilians in a route van in the town this afternoon before taking it to Eravur to bring the bodies of their colleagues shot dead by the LTTE.

Only three bodies have been identified until this evening by the Razeek group as Natkunasingham Nandakumar 23, Thiyagarajah Rajkumar 25 and Singarasa Vethanayagam 28.

The first two are youth from very poor homes who joined Razeek for the plush salaries paid by the army.

The other bodies will be identified tomorrow said Batticaloa hospital sources.
