Hundreds of people participated in a rally held in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo on Wednesday evening, protesting against the involvement of foreign countries in solving the island's protracted ethnic conflict and soaring cost of living. The rally was organised by the People's Liberation Front (JVP).
The rally began at 4 p.m. and went on till 8 p.m. JVP's General Secretary Mr. Tilvin Silva speaking at the rally said his party would always raise voice against foreign involvement in solving the conflict. He said foreign involvement will not lead to an end to the conflict and that those countries have their own interest. The JVP, a Marxist party that led two unsuccessful insurrections to capture state power in Sri Lanka, has ten seats in the current parliament.
