Police patrol ambushed

A Police officer was killed and ten others were wounded in an ambush by the Liberation Tigers near Pachchanoor police post, about 3 km. south of Mutur town in the Trincomalee district, around 7 a.m. Monday morning, security sources said.

The police team was returning after night duty at a sentry on a hillock, about 50 metres from the Pachchanoor police post. A cook at the police post was also killed in the attack. The dead police officer was identified as Chandrasiri, 31, the sources said.
