"This government has been waging a relentless war on my people without solving their problem. We have therefore been trying to bring this government down. Today the time is ripe for it. We would take the same stand against any government in Sri Lanka that tries to wage war on our people", said 'Selvam' Adaikalanathan, MP, the leader of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation, commenting on the current political crisis in the island, Wednesday evening.
"If a new government is formed in Sri Lanka it should put forward a concrete solution to the Tamil national question. If the new government were to continue the war on our people we shall oppose it as well," the TELO leader said. "However, we would consider extending our support to a new government if it meets the following conditions: 1. The ban on the Liberation Tigers should be lifted forthwith. 2. A ceasefire should be declared 3. The economic embargo on the Vanni should be lifted. 4. Negotiations with the Tigers should start immediately 5. The negotiations should be mediated by the Norwegian government," Mr. Adaikalanathan said.
