A school student, K. Prabhaharan, was wounded for the second time in the course of a month in the SLA's indiscriminate fire in the Valaichenai area last evening.
Prabharan was wounded last month when the SLA from the nearby Paythalali camp shot at random while on a route clearing patrol in the area. SLA at the Valaichenai fisheries harbour camp had received information last evening, according to sources, that a group of Liberation Tigers were in the village of Kannankiramam, on the outskirts of this war ravaged town. Nine fully armed soldiers from the camp had commandeered a bus belonging to the Valaichenai co-operative society to attack the LTTE. Upon entering Kannankiaramam the SLA had seen some boys playing volley ball in the village grounds and had opened fire on them from the bus. A bullet smashed through Prabhaharan's knee and another youth identified as Raveenthiran, 27, was hit in the head. Both have been admitted to the Valaichenai hospital.
