ACTC urges Tamil - Muslim unity

The All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC), Sunday appealed to Tamils and Muslims not to fall prey to the chauvinist forces that are very active in adopting divide and rule policy to achieve their political ends. A resolution to this effect further stated that Tamils and Muslims should work together with one voice to ensure their rights in the Northeast province.

Several resolutions were unanimously adopted at the annual convention of the ACTC held Sunday morning at its head office in Jaffna.

TNA Jaffna district parliamentarian and the President of the party Mr.A.Vinayagamoorthy presided.

In one of the resolutions the ACTC has urged the government to take immediate steps to allow the displaced families to resettle in Valikaamam-north and Thenmaradchi, immediately.

"The government should make a public announcement regarding the fate of several disappeared persons in Jaffna district following ‘Riviressa’ military Operation launched by the Sri Lankan Army during the then People’s Alliance government," another resolution states.

Mr. Vinayagamoorthy was re-elected President for the current year 2002-2003 Mr. N.Kumaraguruparan who held the post of Secretary General was elected senior vice president. Mr.T.Mahendrarajah Jaffna was elected Secretary General.

TNA parliamentarian Mr. G.G.Gajendrakumar was elected Deputy Secretary. Treasurer: -M.Tharmaraja, Deputy Treasurer: E.Ganesharajah. Vice Presidents: - V.Ratnarajah, R.E.Anandarajah, C.V.K.Sivagnanam, N.Nadarajah (Thilaikoothan), P.P.Mathurapillai. A fifteen member of committee was also elected.
