TULF's first campaign meeting tomorrow

[TamilNet, Thursday, 22 January 1998, 23:59 GMT]
The TULF will hold its first campaign meeting for the Jaffna municipal council elections tomorrow evening around 4 p.m. at the Gandhi community centre in Ariyalai, a large suburb of the Jaffna town. The party spokeman Mr. Anandasangari will address the meeting said TULF sources in Jaffna.

They said that the party leader Mr. M. Sivasithamparam is unlikely to take part in the campaign in Jaffna.

Meanwhile, ex-Tamil militant groups contesting the elections say that they are worried that the TULF might use its clout over the PA regime to tilt the balance in the elections in its favour at the eleventh hour. They wondered whether there.

TULF is contesting to two local government bodies, Jaffna Municipal council and Waligamam north Pradeshiya Sabha, which are scheduled for the January 29.
