The Jaffna District Co-ordinating Committee (JDCC) Saturday unanimously adopted a resolution that the northeast provincial governor Major General (retd) Asoka Jayawardene be removed from the office for failing to co-operate with the local officials in their effort towards development of the district.

Tamil National Alliance Jaffna district parliamentarian Mr.M.K.Sivajilingam proposing the resolution said provincial governor should be immediately removed from the office as he has become a major obstacle to the district's development.

Presiding over the third meeting of the Jaffna DCC Minister Mr. T.Maheswaran said that the northeast governor has failed to attend the DCC meetings for the third time. The Minister reminded the house that provincial governor Major General Jayawardene had attended the Jaffna DCC meeting and extended his co-operation under the then Peoples Alliance government.

Minister Mr. Maheswaran directed that in future all provincial secretaries of the NEPC should attend the Jaffna DCC meeting without fail. He complained that northeast provincial council officials are not extending their co-operation to the district development activities.

Jaffna district TNA parliamentarians A.Vinayagamoorthy, G.G.Gajendrakumar, N.Raviraj, and Mavai Senathirajah also attended the DCC meeting. Jaffna Additional Government Agent Mr. T.Vaithilingam, Killinochchi Government Agent Mr.A.Rasanayagam and LTTE Tamil Eelam Administrative head Mr. Vijitharan also participated.
