Mr.R.Sampanthan, Tamil National Alliance parliamentary group leader said that LTTE has proved its military might to the Sri Lankan governments in power by defeating the State armed forces in several battles in the northeast. LTTE that started as a guerilla group later has grown into a conventional army, equal to the State armed forces. This has immensely contributed to the present peace process. The SLG and the international community have accepted the military might of the LTTE. Hence they decided that political solution to the Tamil national question should be found only through talks and not by military means.

At Sampoor meeting Mr.K.Thurairetnasingham, TNA national list parliamentarian said that the LTTE has been talking to the SL government in power in a strong position political and military wise. This fact has been accepted by all sections of the polity.
