The picketers demanded that the draconian Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) should be repealed and the government should expedite the investigation into the disappearance of more than six hundred youths arrested by the State armed forces in 1996 and 1997 in the Jaffna district.

The Jaffna District Non-governmental Organisation handed over a memorandum to the HRC official in Jaffna.
