Skeleton exhumed from Trincomalee beach

In the presence of the Trincomalee Magistrate and Additional District
Judge, Mr.S.Thiagendran, Wednesday morning, a human skull and skeletal remains were exhumed from the Trincomalee beach just in front of the library
building of the Trincomalee Urban Council, police sources said.

| The Trincomalee Police in a report submitted to the Trincomalee
magistrate's court Tuesday had said it received information that remains of
human skeletons had been found when labourers were constructing a retention
wall at the beach. On the basis of the report, the Magistrate Wednesday
morning inspected the site and ordered further exhumation in his presence. A
human skull and skeletal remains were recovered in his presence, the sources
said. Mr.S.Sudesanathan, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Headquarters
Inspector Dassanayake and several other police officials were present at
the site with the Magistrate during the exhumation. An inquiry into the findings of human bones and skulls is expected to be
held Thursday at the Magistrate's court, sources said.  |
