17 Indian fishermen injured

Seventeen Indian fishermen who tresspassed into Sri Lankan waters 7 pm Monday were injured during clashes with fishermen from Pesalai, Mannar district when the local fisherfolks rounded up Indian fishermen and brought them to Pesalai shores, sources in Mannar said.
Seventy five Indian fishermen and twenty-three boats were held by the Pesalai fishermen when the Police rushed to the scene and took over custody. Pesalai Police are investigating the incident and are preparing to present them in Mannar courts, legal sources said. The details of the incident has been communicated to the Indian Embassy in Colombo by the Mannar Government Agent and sources say that the Embassy has been in contact with Mannar Police related to on ensuring safety to the fishermen in custody. The following is the list of names of fishermen from Uchchapulli, Kanniyakumari areas of Tamil Nadu who are receiving treatment for injuries at Mannar Hospital:
