The peace secretariat of the LTTE has launched its official website from its headquarters in the Vanni, and the website, www.lttepeacesecretariat.com, will regularly carry the official press releases, current updates, events and photographs of the peace process, LTTE sources at the peace secretariat in Kilinochchi said.
The LTTE established the peace secretariat with the commencement of the peace talks in Thailand. The initiative to establish the peace secretariat has been commended widely by political observers as a sign of the LTTE’s sincere commitment to the peace process. The launching of the new website comes as the sixth round of peace talks between the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) and the LTTE are under way in Japan. The peace secretariat of the GOSL established its own website on the peace process earlier, where the government continues to provide its own perspective on the talks. Political sources said that the new website with regular updates, giving the Tamil perspective, is welcome news to many, especially the huge Tamil diaspora community around the globe.
