Kilinochchi unprecedented defeat -UNP

The United National Party's (UNP) Parliamentary group met today to discuss the military situation in the north and the government censorship. The meeting was chaired by the UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The UNP resolved that a Parliamentary Select Committee should be appointed to investigate the fall of Kilinochchi.

The UNP's Parliamentary group described the Kilinochchi debacle as a historically unprecedented defeat suffered by the Sri Lankan army.

The UNP also decided to launch an islandwide agitation to lift the censorship on the military situation in the northeast.
