Razeek group cadres arrested V. Paranitharan and S.Sathiaraj, members of the political wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and handed them over to the Sri Lanka police Friday morning in Thimilathivu in Batticaloa district, ex-militant sources said.

The LTTE cadres were engaged in political work in Thimilathivu when they were arrested, according to LTTE sources.

Batticaloa town leader of LTTE, Senathirajah, after informing the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM), accompanied the members of the SLMM to the Thimilathivu Police Station.

The Police officers informed the SLMM and Senathirajah that the LTTE cadres have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder of a member of Razik group on 19 May, security sources said.

Senathirajah denied involvement of any LTTE cadres in the said incident and informed the police officials that LTTE has been conducting training workshops between 15 May and 4 June for its political wing cadres.

Investigations by the police is continuing according to security sources.
