Grenade attack on Trinco EPDP office

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 11 June 2003, 11:14 GMT]
Unidentified men lobbed grenades at the Trincomalee office of the para military group Eelam Peoples' Democratic Party (EPDP) Tuesday night, police said. The roof of the building was damaged, but no one was injured, according to police sources.

EPDP Trincomalee district organizer Mr.T.Pushparajah who was inside the EPDP office at that time had told the police that attack was aimed at his room.

Police and army immediately cordoned the area and conducted search operation soon after the incident on Tuesday night, sources said.

The police and army Wednesday early morning held a house-to-house search operation in the area where the EPDP office is located, police said.

Trincomalee police and army jointly conduct random checking of civilians in public places and routine cordon and search operation in the suburbs of east port town almost daily due to the increase of incidents of grenade attack and killings, police said.
