NorthEast Province receives 9 ambulances from WHO

SLA suspects identified in attempted rape case

ADB provides agricultural machinery to NE agencies

Downward trend in ceasefire violations seen - SLMM

The Sri Lanka Monitoring Commission (SLMM) in a press release issued today observed that the positive and ongoing development in the ceasefire during the last several months has been the decrease in the number of ceasefire violations. Most number of violations occurred in December was in Batticaloa(61) followed by Jaffna(46), Vavuniya(16), Ampara(7) and Trincomalee(1), the release said.

Families await resettlement in Vavuniya district

TULF urges govt. to expedite displaced resettlement

SIHRN identifies 11 projects for immediate implementation in NE

Mr.Yasushi Akashi, special peace envoy of the Government of Japan and Ms Mieko Nishimizu, World Bank Vice President for South Asia participated at the second day meeting of the Sub Committee on Immediate Humanitarian and Rehabilitation Needs in the North and East (SIHRN) held Thursday at Killinochchi. Eleven projects have been identified for immediate implementation in the north and east at the SIHRN meeting after eleven hour discussion, said a press release issued at the conclusion of the meeting.
