Unidentified armed men abducted a family man from his house in the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) High Security Zone (HSZ) in Jaffna Wednesday around 6:00 p.m, according to complaints made by his family members to Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna. Meanwhile, a father of four children from Changkaanai in Valikaamam sought protection Thursday with the HRC due to continuous death threats from unidentified armed men on motor cycles alleged to be Sri Lanka Army (SLA) backed paramilitaries, HRC sources said.

2 civilians shot dead inside Point-Pedro HSZ

An eatery owner and a Saiva priest were shot dead by unknown gunmen inside the High Security Zone (HSZ) in Point Pedro early morning Sunday, sources in Point Pedro said. The killlings took place within 10 minutes of each other in an area with heavy Sri Lanka Army (SLA) presence have shocked the local residents, civil society sources said.

Meanwhile Koappaay police recovered the body of an elderly man hacked to death Wednesday night, found in Koa'ndaavil east.

SLA orders government officials to resume census work in Jaffna

IDPs refusing to resettle in new areas refused relief

East Provincial Governor Rear Admiral Mohan Wijewickrema is reported to have instructed civil authorities in districts of Trincomalee and Batticaloa not to provide food and other relief assistances to Tamil displaced families frpm Moothoor east and Eachchilampathu division who refuse to be relocated in new lands allocated to them by the Sri Lanka government in other parts of the Trincomalee district. Moothoor east and Eachchilampaththu have been declared as high security zone after the military operation and civilians are not being allowed to resettle there, civil society sources said.

Arafa Nagar declared HSZ, Muslim families expelled

Barrage of gunfire as Tiger aircrafts complete bombing raid, woman wounded

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers in camps across Jaffna Peninsula emptied bullets in the air in a barrage of gunfire after Tamileelam Air Force (TAF) attacked SLA's main base complex in the Jaffna peninsula in the early hours of Tuesday morning, residents in the peninsula said. A woman was wounded in Eezhaalai, 5 km southwest of Palaali when Sri Lanka Army soldiers opened fire from their positions as the Tiger aircrafts, that completed their mission inside the High Security Zone of the Palaali garrison, flew at low altitude on their way back to Vanni.

Tiger aircrafts bomb Palaali military base

0Two attack aircraft of the Liberation Tigers bombed the Sri Lankan military’s main base complex in the Jaffna peninsula in the early hours of Tuesday morning, inflicting heavy damage and casualties, LTTE military spokesman Irasiah Ilanthirayan told TamilNet. Tamileelam Air Force bombers had hit an Engineering Unit of the complex and a military storage, the Tigers spokesman claimed. Meanwhile sources said continuous explosions were heard from inside the High Security Zone for five hours after the air raid. Military sources in Colombo confirmed that at least 6 of their personnel were killed. Informed military sources said more than 30 troopers were wounded the attack inside the HSZ.
