The occupying Sri Lankan Military and Police in Batticaloa district are attempting to transfer a section of lands seized from Tamils at Koara'laip-pattu (Vaazhaich-cheani) division to Sinhala settlers, informed civil sources in Batticaloa told TamilNet. While Tamil landowners are still struggling to get released their lands, where were seized from them in 1990, Sinhalese persons have started to claim ownership to a section of lands at Thiyaavadduvaan in the division, the sources further said.

Buddhist monk, SL military step up construction of Buddhist vihara at Kokku'laay

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 04 August 2015, 22:31 GMT]
0The occupying Sinhala military and Sri Thissapura Gunarathna Thero, the Buddhist monk, who is behind the construction of a Buddhist vihara establishment at a disputed land in Kokku'laay, which links Northern and Eastern provinces, have fenced off the area and are engaged in construction work during the nights defying the instructions of the District Secretariat of Mullaiththeevu. The monk and SL soldiers were photographed this week while they were engaged in the construction work. The area remains fenced off during the daytime to avoid focus. While the Tamil politicians were busy with the elections, the extremist monk and Sinhalese soldiers resumed the banned construction work. TamilNet has obtained photographs that document the construction taking place with the direct involvement of the monk.

Victims of Moothoor massacre must see justice prevail: mother of Kokilavarthani

[TamilNet, Sunday, 02 August 2015, 23:40 GMT]
60-year-old Vairamuththu Pushparany, the mother of one of the victims who was assassinated on 04 August 2006 at Moothoor, in Trincomalee, along with 16 of her co-workers at the office of France-based NGO Action Contre la Faim (ACF, Action Against Hunger), is sharing her grief with Tamils on the occasion of 9th year anniversary of one of the brutal massacres in the war. Those who committed the crime are yet to be subjected to proper investigations. All the investigations that took place happened in “their courts with their judges and police,” the mother of 27-year-old Vairamuththu Kokilavarthani, who was a Hygine promotion moderator with the ACF, told TamilNet. Kokilavarthani was the eldest and the only breadwinner of the family at the time of the massacre. The crime should be subjected for an international investigation of genocide, Tamil activists in Trincomalee said.

TNA sabotages Tamils proving will for genocide investigation

[TamilNet, Sunday, 26 July 2015, 13:49 GMT]
Despite the mounting pressure on the planted Colombo-centric polity controlling the affairs of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), the alliance has once again sabotaged Eezham Tamils' call for international investigations on genocide. The General Election Manifesto produced by R Sampanthan and M.A. Sumanthiran undermines the unanimous and democratically established position of the elected members of its own alliance in the Northern and Eastern provincial councils on the question of genocide. TNA's manifesto is also non-descript with regards to its demand to the SL State on expected constitutional framework, political solution and the question of accountability, deploying self-contradictory and ambiguous terminology.

Colombo-centric ‘State within State’ is model envisaged for the island

[TamilNet, Saturday, 25 July 2015, 23:52 GMT]
Similar to Bangkok being different from Thailand, a separate State in disguise at Colombo, which will be different from the rest of the island, and which for all practical purposes will wield the real power and control over all economic, military and political matters of the rest of the island, is the ‘devolution’ model envisaged by the ultimate culprits, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island, citing the ‘election’ manifesto coming from Colombo. All the Colombo-centric Sinhalese, Eezham Tamils, Muslims, Up-country Tamils and the diaspora invested in Colombo, will be lured into the model for their vested interests. Whenever the model finds ‘difficulties,’ the lascarine Sinhala military will be used, as it often happens in Thailand, the activists further said.

Saiva shrines subjected to Sinhala Buddhicization in Ampaa'rai

[TamilNet, Monday, 20 July 2015, 23:09 GMT]
0A shrine of Saiva-Vedda tradition, located 12 km southwest of Paa'nama in Lahugala division of Ampaa'rai district at the hilltop of Channiyaasi-malai, has been subjected to Sinhalicisation and Buddhisization after the area has been seized by Colombo's military from the Tigers eight years ago. Tamil devotees from Ampaa'rai who retured home after a pilgrimage on foot from Thirukkoayil to Kathirkaamam Murukan temple, which is situated in Moneragala district, told TamilNet that the occupying Sinhalese have relocated the ‘divine javelin’ (veal) and built a Buddhist temple at the hilltop in Channiyaasi-malai, which is situated between Paa'nama and Ukanthai.

Buddhist military monks behind structural genocide: Tamils in Ampaa'rai

[TamilNet, Saturday, 18 July 2015, 23:39 GMT]
Former Major General Ananda Weerasekara is now Buddhangala Ananda Thero at Ampaa'raiSinhala settlers brought down from South into Ampaa’rai under the Gal Oya scheme carried out the first ever large-scale massacre against Eezham Tamils in June 1956 when Ceylon was a British Dominion. The fundamentals for the future genocide were laid under the British rule since 1833. Invading Buddhist monks and the occupying SL military played the crucial role in the genocide project in Ampaa'rai district in the Eastern Province. The first monk entered the place Buddangala, situated 8 km away from Ampaa'rai town in 1964 with the agenda of Sinhalicisation and Buddhicisation of the Tamil villages. After the SL military seized the full control of the Eastern province from the LTTE, Major General (retd) Ananda Weerasekara, a former war criminal and associate of extremist Sihala Urumya, has been spearheading the Sinhalicisation of Ampaa'rai as ‘Buddhangala Ananda Thero’.

Tamil civil society calls for fundamentals-oriented participation in election

[TamilNet, Friday, 17 July 2015, 13:18 GMT]
Coming out with a statement on Friday, the Tamil Civil Society Forum (TCSF) in the island has called upon Tamil politicians running for Colombo’s parliamentary elections to come out with an open and fundamental policy-oriented programme, keeping in mind the catalogue of deceptions in the past. The forum also called for the formation of Tamil National Council of civil societies, transcending political parties. Commenting, Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island said that if Tamils could succeed in orientating the voting to prove the demand for international investigation of genocide and prove at least in a small way their will for a shift in the polity to openly address the struggle against imperialist deceptions, that will perhaps make the only point in participating the elections in the given circumstances.

Hindi supersedes solutions to genocide in New Delhi’s show of imperialism

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 07 July 2015, 00:07 GMT]
When a people of a nation wish to learn a foreign language, an overwhelming request would spontaneously come from the concerned people. But when a plenipotentiary in genocidal engineering circumstances thinks of teaching a language, it is a naked show of colonialism and imperialism, as we had seen it with the European precedents, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics responding to the Hindi activities of New Delhi’s Consulate General in Jaffna. The Hindi enthusiasts in India should realize what will be the sentiments of a people when an Establishment comes to teach its language after enacting genocide, refusing to accept it as genocide, preventing any international investigations and the visit of a foreign minister on a remembrance day banned even the toll of bells in temples, the activists said.

Colombo enacts farcical show in Mirusuvil massacre case

[TamilNet, Saturday, 04 July 2015, 17:21 GMT]
As part of a concerted showdown in its campaign to transform the Geneva-based OISL investigation discourse into a domestic investigation, the Sri Lankan legal system was recently deployed to ‘demonstrate’ its ‘capacity‘ to 'investigate' what would be described by the human rights defenders as a ‘mass atrocity’ crime. The case, in which one non-commissioned officer of the Sri Lankan Army, Staff Sergeant Sunil Rathnayake, was sentenced to capital punishment, was in fact a genocidal crime in which several Sinhala soldiers, including a captain rank officer having command responsibility, took part. The main surviving witness in the case, who narrowly escaped the brutal massacre, had identified in 2001 the culprits, who belonged to the notorious ‘Deep Penetration Unit’, which was trained by Colombo to commit genocidal acts.

[TamilNet, Saturday, 27 June 2015, 19:21 GMT]
Rajapaksa-appointed and Maithiripala-extended ‘Presidential Commission to Investigate into Complaints regarding Missing Persons’ (PCICMP) resumed its public sittings on Saturday at Moothoor Divisional Secretariat in the Trincomalee district. Around 300 relatives of the missing people and civil activists protested outside the venue, while 159 people who had been invited by the PCICMP for hearings took part in the sittings. The protesters were demanding international investigations. Even those who attended the sittings had no trust in the commission, said Mannaar Citizens' Committee vice chairman A. Sagayam. His committee had urged the people to take part in the sittings.

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 17 June 2015, 23:20 GMT]

Mr Palihakkara has forced a section of Tamil public servants in the North to accompany him to the military ceremony. Tamil journalists in Jaffna have boycotted the event. The NPC councillors said they were not informed of public servants associated with the NPC being taken to the event.

TNA spokesman decries Sumanthiran discourse

[TamilNet, Friday, 12 June 2015, 23:53 GMT]
“Third party mediation and negotiations are important to resolve the Tamil national question. But, the process should be carried out in a proper context involving the actors with peoples mandate. The mediation should be undertaken by international actors, who are capable of course-correcting the Colombo regime”, TNA Parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran told TamilNet on Friday. Mr Premachandran, who is an official spokesman of the TNA was responding to an official statement coming from a confidential process embarked on by certain actors, involving the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera, a section of Tamil diaspora activists of the so-called Global Tamil Forum (GTF), a South African NGO known as ‘In Transformation Initiative’ (ITI), Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) official Martin Stürzinger and the failed Norwegian peace broker Erik Solheim.

Sinhala Navy seeks funds to lure uprooted Champoor Tamils

[TamilNet, Thursday, 11 June 2015, 23:46 GMT]
The occupying SL Navy is trying to lure a section of the uprooted landowners in Champoor in Moothoor East to sell their residential and fertile lands to SL military. Informed sources told TamilNet Thursday that the SL Navy has demanded the new regime in Colombo to allocate large sums of money for the so-called relocation of its military cantonment in Champoor. The SL Navy is not prepared to shift the military cantonment to a remote location away from the people. The SL Navy was seeking ‘alternative’ lands consisting fertile agricultural and residential lands of the uprooted people, the sources further said. The SL Navy has worked out a new plan to modernize its military cantonment, the sources further said.

Tamil diplomacy put to test

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 09 June 2015, 23:51 GMT]
A democratically elected government in the State of Tamil Nadu in India has unanimously resolved for international investigation of the crime of genocide committed against Eezham Tamils. The democratically elected Northern Provincial Council of Eezham Tamils has called for the same. These are democratic demands manifesting from people’s struggle and uprising. The Permanent People’s Tribunal also has come out with its verdict finding genocide and on-going genocide. Justice Wigneswaran’s diplomacy is people-oriented. But the nominated parliamentarian Sumanthiran’s argument for ‘domestic mechanism’ to implement anything, while downplaying the fundamental question, subtly sabotages logical solution to the genocidal context, tilting the diplomatic balance as the military balance had been tilted in the war, to keep the accused State intact for the agenda of the ultimate culprits.

No alternative to people’s struggle-based diplomacy

[TamilNet, Sunday, 07 June 2015, 23:39 GMT]
Before defending the Powers-designed ‘engagement’ with Colombo to ‘cater to present needs’, any articulating Tamil leadership is particularly answerable where its ‘diplomacy’ stands in the current global power competition between the ultimate culprits of the Tamil genocide that seek ‘closing files’ for their collective benefit, without any fundamental justice delivered to the victims, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics, citing a currently negotiated world monopoly agenda of the Obama administration leaked by Wikileaks on Wednesday that keeps BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) out. The activists responded to Mr. Sumanthiran’s talk in Theepam TV on Saturday, commenting that it was in the line of muffling the Eezham Tamil struggle by abandoning certain fundamentals of justice, for the collective ‘counterinsurgency’ benefit of the competing powers.

Violence intensified in Sinhala military-driven demographic genocide in Batticaloa

[TamilNet, Friday, 29 May 2015, 22:45 GMT]
The Rural Development Society (RDS) of Kachchat-kodi Swami-malai GS division is a grassroots-level attempt by the villagers to sustain the livelihood of the people who face a systematic demographic genocide along the border of Batticaloa and Ampaa'rai districts for a long time. In an in-depth interview to TamilNet, Secretary of the RDS, Mr Paramanatham, exposes the details behind the demographic genocide and the role played by the Buddhist monks, Sri Lankan Police and the ‘Sinhala home guards,’ which is an armed paramilitary operated by the occupying SL military. Mr Paramantham also details the institutionalised non-responsive governance of the Sri Lankan system, including Colombo's departments, provincial, district and divisional offices, all operating with one single aim of driving Tamils away and Sinhalicising the native villages of Eezham Tamils.

Address ‘domestic’ deceptions of geopolitical powers: Disapora Tamil activist

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 19 May 2015, 05:24 GMT]
“We should remember that it was primarily the geo-political injustice committed by regional and global powers that enabled the SL State to wage the unrelenting genocidal onslaught towards Mu'l'ivaaykkaal in 2009. The powers, pre-occupied with ‘unified’ Sri Lanka, were seeking to force through our throats, the concept of ‘internal self-determination’ to reject our only remedy of asserting our own sovereignty,” Lathan Suntharalingam, a Diaspora activist, who has championed the legal efforts in Europe after 2009, said in his address on Monday at Bern, Switzerland. “The next milestone in the post-2009 struggle is to mark the Mu'l'livaaykkaal Day as a universal day of remembrance of genocides and injustices committed against the nations without states by the regional and global geopolitical powers. This is key to safeguard them from continued ‘domestic’ and global crimes,” he said.
