Jaffna travellers arrive in Trincomalee

The Lanka Muditha, a cargo vessel chartered by the Sri Lankan Government to transport civilians to and from Jaffna, arrived at the eastern port of Trincomalee this morning around 9.30. A civilian passenger said that about 1000 Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers and 626 civilian passengers had travelled on the ship from Jaffna.

Ex-CVF shot dead

An ex-militiaman of Civilian Volunteer Force (CVF) identified as Meerasahib was found shot dead this morning near the Paandirippu cemetery. The CVF was established by the Indian army in 1989 with Tamil and Muslim youth recruited and conscripted through the EPRLF.

Vavuniya politicians lose access privileges

Jaffna traders urge SLG to compensate losses

India urged to intervene
