Colombo media conceals rape by military in Jaffna village with discovery of explosives

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 30 March 2016, 20:11 GMT]
An abusive and criminal Tamil man, recruited into the ranks of genocidal military of Colombo and deployed against Tamils, abducted a 16-year-old Tamil girl two weeks ago from Madduvil village in Thenmaraadchchi in Jaffna. The sexually abused girl managed to escape from the custody of the SLA soldier from the nearby Ma'ravaan-pulavu village on Tuesday. As the incident prompted anger among the public, the SL Police was forced to launch a search operation to capture the SLA trooper. During the search operation, the SL Police entered the house of a 31-year-old man and located explosives at Ma'ravanpulavu on Tuesday evening. In the meantime, Colombo-based media, including Indian and Western agencies, engaged in agenda-driven reporting, conveniently censored the chain of events and highlighted only the discovery of explosives.

Premachandran releases photos of SL military-run torture chamber in Jaffna

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 01 December 2015, 23:04 GMT]
0Former Tamil Parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran has released photos taken by him from a former torture chamber operated by the occupying Sri Lankan military in Jaffna to media on Tuesday. The photos show blood-stained walls of a house used as torture cell and the roof of the abandoned house netted inside with barbed-wire. The photos were taken after the occupying Sri Lankan military relocated one of its most dreaded camps, known as 52nd Brigade Head Quarters, from Vara'ni to Kodikaamam in Thenmaraadchi. Describing the photographic traces of the former torture chamber in Vara'ni, Mr Premachandran told TamilNet that he was releasing the photos after the visiting UN working group on enforced disappearances had confirmed his earlier allegations on the existence of a similar torture chamber at Trincomalee Naval base in the East.

Colombo enacts farcical show in Mirusuvil massacre case

[TamilNet, Saturday, 04 July 2015, 17:21 GMT]
As part of a concerted showdown in its campaign to transform the Geneva-based OISL investigation discourse into a domestic investigation, the Sri Lankan legal system was recently deployed to ‘demonstrate’ its ‘capacity‘ to 'investigate' what would be described by the human rights defenders as a ‘mass atrocity’ crime. The case, in which one non-commissioned officer of the Sri Lankan Army, Staff Sergeant Sunil Rathnayake, was sentenced to capital punishment, was in fact a genocidal crime in which several Sinhala soldiers, including a captain rank officer having command responsibility, took part. The main surviving witness in the case, who narrowly escaped the brutal massacre, had identified in 2001 the culprits, who belonged to the notorious ‘Deep Penetration Unit’, which was trained by Colombo to commit genocidal acts.

Protesting mother exposes occupying SL military’s false propaganda

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 22 July 2014, 17:16 GMT]

While the protest was going on a group of SL military intelligence operatives entered the house of a Tamil councillor, who was supporting the protesting family, threatened his wife at gunpoint and caused damage to his property. UNHRC failure brings in large-scale Sinhala militarisation in North

[TamilNet, Sunday, 27 April 2014, 23:11 GMT]
Hitherto unseen Sinhala militarisation is taking place in the Jaffna peninsula in recent days, especially after the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) passed a watered-down resolution leaving out the de-militarisation demand that had been proposed in the initial draft. The SL military has deployed heavy machinery in clearing 16 acres of lands 400 meters away from Kaithadi junction on Kaithadi – Maanippaay Road appropriating private lands of Tamils surrounding a former camp, transforming the place into a military cantonment. Similarly, Tamil Heroes Cemeteries that were desecrated and bulldozed have been transformed into key command and supply bases of the occupying Sinhala military in the country of Eezham Tamils. The SL military is also constructing new camps at Vallai and Valveddiththu’rai.

SL military detains 28 Tamils in 2 weeks

[TamilNet, Thursday, 27 March 2014, 11:00 GMT]
The occupying Sri Lankan military, launching house-to-house search in the North and East has targeted former LTTE members, has detained at least 28 Tamils within the last two weeks. The Sinhala military, unfolding a concocted scene of regrouping of the LTTE, initially ‘abducted’ two persons in Pazhai on charges of distributing leaflets and later arrested a mother and daughter on 13th March in Tharumapuram in Ki'linochchi. Several arbitrary ‘arrests’ have been made since then. While pro-Sri Lankan groups were projecting so-called 'LTTE terrorism’ as the key issue in Geneva as a smokescreen to deviate the global focus, the SL military intelligence operatives have been deployed in an unprecedented terror operation after 2009, as a tactic to support their ‘Geneva strategy’, Tamil rights activists in Ki'linochchi said.
