Video shop owner shot dead in Eazhaalai

The 25-year old owner of a video store in Eazhaalai in Valikaamam was shot dead by unknown gunmen at 10:30 a.m. Monday at his home, sources in Jaffna said. The gunmen entered the victim's house called out for the youth, and shot him at point blank range.

Two unidentified armed men on motorcycle shot and killed two civilians, Thursday around 7:00 p.m, two hours before the beginning of curfew, at Aalangkuzhaay area in Cha’ndilippay in Valikaamam, sources in Jaffna said. The victims were on their way to a shop in the area to buy provisions.

A severely mutilated and decapitated body of a youth abducted October 31 st from Power House Road , Chunnakam in Valikaamamn was recovered Saturday from an isolated area in Mayilangkaadu Eazhaa'lai, local residents said. The relatives of the youth had earlier reported his disappearance at the office of Jaffna Human Rights Commission (HRC).

A circulation staffer at the Jaffna daily, Yaazh Thinakkural, has been reported missing after taking papers for distribution from Yaazh Thinakkural office in K.K.S Road at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, his wife registered complaint at the Thellippa'lai police. The staffer is feared abducted while attending to his daily duty in Eazhaalai area where a Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camp is located.

Police claimed that a Claymore mine had targeted a police vehicle.

Abducted youth recovered dead, SLA trooper killed in Jaffna

The body of a youth abducted from Ariyaalai in Jaffna Sunday night has been recovered from the same area with knife injuries Monday morning. Meanwhile, unidentified persons shot dead Sunday night a Sri Lanka Army (SLA) trooper in a sentry point at Cha'ndilipaay in Valikaamam. SLA and the police, in a joint cordon and search operation launched immediately after the killing, have detained a youth for interrogation.
