Colombo opens new military camps, ‘Red soldiers’ to monitor Eezham Tamils

The occupying Sri Lankan military has created a new unit, which has come to be called as ‘Red Army’ with military intelligence personnel fluent in three languages. The new ‘Red’ soldiers of the occupying military will be patrolling the interior villages of Vanni in bicycles. While Stephen Rapp, the US Ambassador for Global Criminal Justice was visiting North on Wednesday, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the Sri Lankan presidential sibling and SL defence secretary, declared open 3 major military bases of the occupying Sri Lankan military in North. A large complex, which was earlier built by the political division of the LTTE near Ira'naimadu tank, has now become one of the new military installations of the occupying SL military in Ki'linochchi district.

Occupying Sri Lanka rushes to legalize Sinhalicisation of strategic entrance to Jaffna

0Colombo's ‘National Housing Development Authority’ (NHDA) and the Cvil Military Coordination Office (CIMIC) of the occupying SL military in Jaffna have been jointly engaged in legalising the Sinhala occupation of the strategic entrance to Jaffna city at Naavat-kuzhi this week. The NHDA and CIMIC have been distributing lands to 126 Sinhala families that have been occupying the public lands at Naavatkuzhi under the security of SL military despite the protest by the Tamil residents and refugees still struggling to resettle at the locality. Naavatkuzhi is a place just 5 km east of Jaffna city where the two highways A9 and A32, the only existing land arteries that lead into Jaffna from the south and the western coast meet.

UXO claims life of 30-year-old man in Jaffna, 2 boys wounded

A 30-year-old man was killed and two 17-year-old boys were seriously wounded on Tuesday around 10:30 a.m., at former Forward Defence Line in Mukamaalai in Jaffna. Mr Suthaharan Atputharasa, who was driving the tractor, was killed on the spot. The tragic blast comes after the UN office for humanitarian de-mining coordination in Jaffna has been closed down and the remaining humanitarian agencies involved in de-mining are under pressure to wind up their activities before the end of this year. The occupying SL military, which is converting the former High Security Zones (HSZ) into Sinhala Military Zones (SMZ), is in control of the entire process of de-mining.

Voters’ attendance in Jaffna reached 50% at 2:00 p.m.

Despite the psy-ops manipulations and various harassments by the occupying SL military in at several places of Jaffna peninsula, the participation of people in the provincial council election in Jaffna peninsula has reached almost 50% by 2:00 p.m., independent election monitors told media. A Tamil National Alliance politician and deputy chairman of Chaavakachcheari Pirathesa Chapai (PS), was almost abducted and tortured by the intelligence operatives of the SL military near a voting booth in Thenmaraadchi and when fellow TNA supporters came in a vehicle to his rescue, those who had abducted the TNA politician escaped into the SLA 52-4 Brigade command base at Vara’ni in Jaffna. Following this, a group of SL soldiers who came from the camp opened fire. The vehicle of TNA supporters has sustained heavy damage in the firing.

TNA activist killed in Mullaiththeevu

A 35-year-old Tamil National Alliance (TNA) activist, Mr Rasiah Kavithan, also known as Suresh, was beaten to death by a criminal squad associated with the ruling UPFA of the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Mullaiththeevu on Monday around 6:00 p.m., initial reports from Vanni said. The killing has taken place while the sons of the SL President, Namal Rajapaksa MP and Yoshitha Rajapaksa (SL Navy), have been spearheading the election campaign in Mullaiththeevu district for the ruling UPFA. A UPFA supporter and an operative of the SL military intelligence, Mr Raja Karuna, is contesting the elections in Ma'nal-aa'ru. The election campaign undertaken by Rasiah Kavithan on behalf of the TNA was challenging the UPFA in Mullaiththeevu.

SL military harasses Tamil activists engaged in election campaign: TNA MP

Violating the election rules, and intervening into the civil affairs, the occupying Sri Lankan military is threatening the Tamil activists campaigning for the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) in the North, said TNA parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran at a press conference held in Jaffna on Friday. Further, the SL military, that doesn't even understand what is written in the leaflets, is levelling false allegations against the TNA activists that they are distributing leaflets to start ‘another war’. Following that, 40 TNA supporters were detained by the SL Police. At least four people are still under police detention, Mr Premachandran said demanding their immediate release.

Rajapaksa party brings in gangster politics to Jaffna

A clash between two factions of the SL President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s UPFA alliance in Jaffna ended up in gunfire on Tuesday in Thenmaraadchi, Jaffna. SLFP Jaffna organiser Mr Ankajan Ramanathan’s group and Mr Saravananthan’s group in Thenmaraadchi were chasing each other in vehicles, from Kodikaamam to Chaavakach-cheari. At the end, Saravananthan’s squad smashed vehicles belonging to Ankajan’s squad. Ankajan's father Ramanathan, who was armed with a handgun, opened fire on Sarvananthan’s group, seriously wounding a Saravananthan supporter, the sources further said. Ankajan’s’s gang was also behind the death threat to a TNA candidate in Jaffna, Mr Thambirasa.

Building defying SL governor inauguration receives crude oil attack in Jaffna

0The colonial military administration of Colombo on Wednesday allegedly deployed its ‘white van squad’ to pour crude oil on the new building of Valikaamam South (Chunnaakam) civic body before it was scheduled to be declared opened by the Tamil National Alliance (TNA). The colonial military governor of North, Maj Gen (retd.) G.A. Chanadrasiri has been demanding that it should be he who should decide on the inauguration of the building. However, the building was declared opened as scheduled by T. Prakash, the head of the civic body of Valikaamam South. The grassroots politician of the TNA also declared that the office would start to function from Thursday in the new premises.

SLA soldiers alleged of killing father of three in Thenmaraadchi

0Occupying Sinhala soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army, on Wednesday, allegedly beat a recently resettled 47-year-old man, Kandiah Jeyarajah, near A9 highway at Ezhuthumadduvaa'l in Thenmaraadchi, Jaffna. The victim succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to Chaavakachcheari hospital, residents in Ezhuthumadduvaazh village told TamilNet Thursday. The wife of the slain victim also confirmed the allegation that the SLA soldiers were involved in the slaying of her husband, who had got into a quarrel with his brother. The SLA soldiers, stationed at the junction had intervened in the private quarrel and when Mr Jeyarajah began to resist, he was severely beaten by the soldiers.

Two children die in landmine explosion at Pazhai in Jaffna peninsula

0Two children playing in front of their house at Mullaiyadi of Pazhai in Jaffna peninsula part of the Ki'linochchi district were killed Wednesday, when they found an unexploded ordnance and started playing with it. 4-year-old Thamilmaran Mukunthan and his younger brother 2-year-old Thanujan Mukunthan were the victims of the tragic incident. The family has resettled in their village recently when Pazhai and Ma'niyanthoaddam areas were declared free of landmines and were opened for resettlement. In the meantime, a leading de-mining group on Tuesday said that it was winding up its activities in Jaffna district and limiting its work in Ki'linochchi district. Independent de-mining groups, supported by international community are forced to close down services at a crucial time due to lack of funds while the SL military apparatus is seeking to dominate the agenda of the entire de-mining process.
