Thileepan's 18th anniversary celebrated in Batticaloa

Lt.Col.Thileepan's eighteenth death annivasary celebration was held at the Batticaloa Palugamam Throupathy Amman Kovil grounds between 10am and 3pm Monday, sources in Batticaloa said. Batticaloa district Liberation Tigers military commander Ramanan raised the Thamileelam national flag and LTTE Head of Administration Thangaiya lit the traditional oil lamp to begin the celebrations where several hundred Batticaloa residents and LTTE cadres attended.

Thousands attend Kilinochchi, Jaffna Thileepan commemoration

0Preparations to commemorate eighteenth death anniversary of Lt.Col.Thileepan (Rasaiah Parthipan), who fast to death during the occupation of Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) in Jaffna, have begun in several parts of NorthEast with red and yellow flags symbolizing the Liberation Tigers being flown at main roads, key junctions, business premises and Government buildings, sources said. Thileepan passed away two weeks into his fast after placing five demands to the Indian Government.

Army searches Punguduthivu hospital

LTTE Jaffna district political secretariat Wednesday complained to the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) in Jaffna that soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army had forcibly entered the Thileepan memorial hospital in Pungudutivu on Monday and conducted a search operation. Soldiers surrounded the hospital stopping people from going out of the premises before moving in, sources said.

Children's home conducts annual sports event

Epidemic fears grow in Trincomalee

Dr.T.Thavakodirajah, Regional Epidemiologist, citing in a report to Colombo health authorities, of Dengue cases in the Ministry of Health (MOH) areas of Trincomalee and Kinniya, malaria cases in Trincomalee MOH area, viral hepatitis cases in Sampoor in Muttur MOH division and dysentery cases in Muttur town, added that immediate action needs to be taken to arrest the spread of infectious diseases, sources said.

Thamilchelvan visits tsunami affected Vaakarai

TECH donates solar systems to educational institutions

First LTTE medical service in SLA held area

0The medical services of the Liberation Tigers conducted free mobile clinics for civilians for the first time in areas controlled by the Sri Lanka military Friday. The program was inaugurated in Vavuniya by LTTE’s Thileepan medical services. Fifteen doctors led by Dr. Ezhumathi Karikalan provided medical services and advice to hundreds of people at the refugee camp in Poonthottam in the morning and later in Maharampaikulam in Vavuniya.
