Sinhala Buddhist vihara, SL militarization pose threat to resettlement at Valikaamam North

The occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka has constructed Buddhist vihare at the site of a Saiva temple (Kumaara-koayil), which was located in the lands belonging to a popular Eezham Tamil female singer from Veemankaamam North GS Division in Valikaam North of Jaffna district. Uprooted Tamil families, along with some journalists in Jaffna, were able to access the area this week after 26 years. Despite the propaganda from SL President Maithiripala Sirisena that these lands were being released back to the people in Valikaamam North, the GS divisions still remains largely militarized, the journalists said providing visuals from the site. Sinhala police, SL ‘Terrorist’ Investigation Division and the ‘State Intelligence Service’ are occupying the lands that belong to more than 60 families at the locality surrounding the Buddhist temple, named ‘Gamunu Vihare’.

Demographic genocide escalates in Vanni, plans afoot to expand Sinhalicised Weli-Oya

Sampanthan-led Tamil National Alliance and Wigneswaran-led Northern Provincial Council have completely failed to address the major demographic change taking place at border between the Northern, Eastern and North-Western provinces, the Tamil officials in Vavuniyaa commented. UNP and SLFP politicians are jointly working in colonising the Tamil land, they further said.

SL President Maithiripala Sirisena's ‘Mahaweli’ Ministry has been backing the Sinhala colonists at various locations in the belt of the Ma’nal- aa’ru stream at the tri-junction of North, North Central and Eastern Provinces. The motive of Colombo is to demographically de-link the contiguity of the Northern and Eastern Provinces. ‘System L’ of Mahaweli project targets the fertile areas in Mullaiththeevu while ‘System B’, the largest of the current projects under the Mahaweli scheme, aims to seize the resourceful interior lands of Batticaloa district.

One of the latest ‘secret’ auctions has taken place within the last 6 months and the transactions involve multi-million rupees, civil sources at Mullaiththeevu District Secretariat told TamilNet this week. There was no transparency on how the auction was conducted and the transactions involved in it, they said. While more than 900 Tamil vehicle owners, who were uprooted several times during the onslaught and who were incarcerated in barbed-wire camps in Menik Farm are blatantly refused any insurance coverage, the occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka is still cashing in on auctioning seized vehicles even after 7 years.

Led by extremist monk, Sinhala colonists launch hate campaign against Tamil officials in Batticaloa

A systematic ‘hate campaign’ is being taken up by the Sinhalese monks and the colonists as a tool to threaten Tamil administrative officials in the East. The behaviour of the extremist monk captured in video is being released with this news for the perusal of the nature of the hate campaign under the genocidal ‘Sri Lanka’ paradigm, which accords ‘foremost place to Buddhism’ in its constitution with a genocidal intent against the sovereignty of the nation of Eezham Tamils in the North and East of the island.

Tamil, Muslim fishermen protest against Colombo's Sinhalicisation of Musali in Mannaar

The Director General of Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources (DFAR), which functions under the purview of the Fisheries Ministry of occupying Colombo, has recently instructed the Divisional Secretary of Musali Division in Mannaar district and the Assistant Director of Fisheries Department in Mannaar to put up a colony with fishing huts, necessary housing and other infrastructural arrangements, informed civil sources in the district said. A list of more than 83 persons has been sent from Colombo. All the persons in the list were Sinhalese fishermen from Gampaha district. The Federation of Fishing Societies in Musali division, comprising of Tamil and Muslim fishermen across 10 villages, took to the streets on Wednesday demanding immediate end to the fishing colony. The protesting Tamil-speaking fishermen blamed Colombo for instigating ethnic tension in Musali division.

Colombo silently schemes fresh Sinhala settlements in Musali division

While thousands of Tamil-speaking native people are denied of resettlement and access to their lands, there are various schemes being silently implemented by Colombo's ministries and departments. The Tamil villagers of Mu'l'lik-ku'lam and the Tamil-speaking Muslims from Ma'richchukkaddi will jointly protest against the Sinhalicisation, which is now targeting Musali division, Mannaar Fisheries Society representative and SLMC Vanni member Noor Mohammed Alam told TamilNet in a video interview to TamilNet this week in Jaffna. The division has become a strategic area of occupation to Colombo, which aims to Sinhalicise and colonise the land and the historic waters of Eezham Tamils.

New Delhi, Colombo neglect NPC participation in resolving fisheries dispute in Historical Waters

The Fisheries Ministry of occupying Sri Lanka was exerting pressure on representatives of fisheries societies in North, when they were taken to New Delhi for a ‘high level’ meeting on 02 November. The fishermen representatives from North were told to cooperate with the suggestion from New Delhi of allowing Indian fishermen entry to the seas off Northern province for three consecutive years. The fishing society members were also asked to sign on a document, which they have declined. In the meantime, Colombo's ministers were discussing the issue with their counterparts at a ‘ministerial-level’ meeting in New Delhi on Saturday. In both the meetings, the Northern Provincial Council, which has a specific ministry for Fisheries, has been completely sidelined, according to the fishermen’s representatives who took part in the meeting at New Delhi on 02 November.

Sirisena deploys ‘pass restrictions’ to block Tamil farmers from entering pasturelands

SL President Maithiripala Sirisena, who is also the minister in charge of Mahaweli Ministry, has been promoting the demographic genocide against Eezham Tamils by deploying Sinhalese from his Polonnaruwa district to grab lands of Eezham Tamils in Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts. Now, he is trying to limit the claim of Eezham Tamils through introducing a rigid pass system, the Tamil farmers complained.

Colombo deploys all ministries, departments to complete demographic genocide in East

SL President Maithiripala Sirisena and the Governor of Eastern Province are personally involved in the coordinating the programme, they said. The SL Forest Department is seizing lands without issuing any Gazette notification at Kuchcha-ve’li, Vi’laang-ku’lam, Lingka-puram, Kangku-veali, Aathimman-kea’ni and at Verukal in the Trincomalee district.

Wickramasinghe deploys ‘shadow war’ intelligence squads in Jaffna

The latest operation has been carried out in collaboration with the Commander-in-Chief of the occupying military, SL President Maithiripala Sirisena. The intelligence ‘head quarters’ is attached to the district police headquarters at Pa’n’nai in Jaffna. The new Intelligence hierarchy is operating its own roaming commando squads. The recent violent behaviour of SL police has its origins from the ‘coordination’ and commando operations of this intelligence squad, informed sources within the SL Police establishment in Jaffna said.

North shuts down in protest to killings of students, killer-policemen transferred to Anuradhapura

Eezham Tamils in the Northern province on Tuesday observed a full-day shutdown in protest against the deployment of armed Sinhala policemen in the streets of occupied Tamil homeland. Heeding to the call coming from the Tamil political parties following the brutal killings of two Tamil students of Jaffna University by Sinhala policemen on Thursday last week, all the businesses, academic institutions, public offices and even pharmacies and petrol sheds were shut down. No one, except those, who engaged in marking their protests by blocking the roads, were seen on the streets. Although the shut-down was largely peaceful, there were some clashes between Tamil youth and Sinhala policemen at Ki’linochchi, where an Indian-operated and US-funded garments company, which is alleged of exploiting Tamil labourers, refused to heel the call for the protest until the Citizens’ Committee intervened.

None of the so-called Constitutional processes in the South are going to change this reality. Tamil fishermen apprehend menacing Sinhala soldier, smash SL naval detachment in Arippu

A Sinhala military intelligence operative attached to the occupying Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) in Arippu, a coastal village in the Musali division of Mannaar district was caught red-handed by Tamil fishermen Tuesday around 10:00 p.m. when he was harassing a family in the village. The military intelligence operative was beaten up by the angry villagers. The SL Navy sailors stationed at the naval detachment in Arippu tried to rescue the culprit by sending an SLN sailor. When the attempt failed, the navy sailor escaped from the villagers, who chased him to the naval detachment. The navy personnel threatened the villagers by firing gunshots. However, the angry villagers smashed the SL Navy detachment sending a strong message against the criminal conduct of the occupying navy. Catholic priests in Mannaar told TamilNet that they have managed to calm down the villagers. Tension prevails in the area.
