Sinhala colonisation stepped up, genocidal system cannot be transformed through ‘consensus’

It is not possible to reform or reconfigure the genocidal State system in the island through so-called consensus engagements with the Colombo Establishment either internally or externally, commented a leading civil official in Batticaloa revealing details of a new Sinhala colonisation scheme silently spearheaded by the Mahaweli Ministry of SL President Maithiripala Sirisena. “As far as Tamils are concerned, any consensus programme coming from outside towards the SL State should be viewed by Tamils as a consensus forged among the Establishments for continued strutural genocide against the nation of Eezham Tamils,” the official, who would be risking the SLAS job if publicly identified, told TamilNet. The official revealed how Mahaweli ‘Development’ Ministry is now reviving a colonisation scheme which was originally proposed under Rajapaksa regime in 2008 and later abandoned in 2010.

30th remembrance of Lt Col Thileepan strengthens resolve among Eezham Tamils

Lt Col Thileepan (Rasaiah Parthipan), who was LTTE's political head in Jaffna, sacrificed his life through a 12-day long fast-unto-death without food and water in September 1987. He had put forward five demands to the Indian Establishment following the signing of Indo-Lanka accord in July 1987 and his fast-unto-death exposed New Delhi and its Colombo-centric geopolitical dealings with the SL State among the grassroots of Eezham Tamils. Three decades on, Eezham Tamils are still dealing with almost the same demands as that were put forward by Thileepan in 1987. The Eezham Tamils waging protests demanding whereabouts of their kith and kin subjected to enforced disappearances and the protests demanding de-militarisation, resettlement and release of political prisoners, are again exposing the Colombo-centric geopolitics of the ‘Strategic partners’, political observers in Jaffna said.

Tamils, Muslims join hands in Mannaar against Rohingya genocide

The organisers of a protest in Mannaar on Tuesday urged global Tamils to rise up against the genocidal onslaught that has been intensified by the genocidal Myanmar State against the Rohingya Muslims. Tamil-speaking people belonging to all religions in Mannaar took to the streets on Tuesday in a joint protest. Theravada Buddhist Myanmar State's persecution against Rohingya Muslims has reached a full-scale stage of genocidal military onslaught. At least 1,000 people have been killed within a month time, reports say. Some activists claim even higher number of civilian casualties. At least 90,000 have recently fled the north-western State of Rakhine, which has been the Rohingya homeland known as Arakan in the past. The Theravada Buddhist Myanmar has also blocked the UN agencies from supplying medicine, food and water to at least 250,000 Rohingyas who have been besieged by the Myanmar State.

SL Police irked by sword assaults targeting Tamil ‘soldiers’ of Sinhala Army

Two Tamil criminal recruits of the occupying Sinhala army have been subjected to sword assaults by unknown attackers on Thursday in Ki’linochchi. The SL Police has reacted with wanton arrests of at least 6 family people and has vowed to subject the victims to identification parade. The latest assault on the few remaining Tamil recruits in the occupying army of genocidal Sri Lanka is said to be a third one within the last 30 days. Majority of the recruits to the SLA during the times of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, have been subjected to substandard assignments or as thugs engaged in ‘katta panchayat’ (Cangaroo courts) activities on behalf of the occupying SL military and have earned the ire of the public. The exact motive or the nature of the attackers are not known. But, the SL Police, citing the latest criminal confrontations, is on a ‘counter-insurgency’ drive against the Tamils.

Batticaloa district organizer of Sarath Foneseka's ‘Democratic Party’, which is aligned with Ranil Wickramasinghe's UNP, is responsible for involving the Sinhala Buddhist extremist monk in Batticaloa Ampitiye Sumanarathna Thero to confront Muslims who are at loggerheads with Tamils in a land dispute at Mu’raavoadai village in Batticaloa, informed sources in Vaazhaichcheanai said. On Tuesday, the controversial monk, known for abusive language and violent behaviour against Eezham Tamils, was taking the side of Tamils in a showdown against Muslims. Setting Tamil-speaking Muslims against Eezham Tamils has again become a tactic being adopted by the Colombo regime in recent months to sabotage Tamil-Muslim unity towards the demand for merged North-East. In the meantime, Sinhala colonisation has been stepped up in all directions surrounding Kokku’laay lagoon to wedging North and East.

SL Forest Department schemes Sinhala colonisation in Vavuniyaa North

The Forest Department of genocidal Sri Lanka is refusing to allow Eezham Tamil owners of 1,750 acres of forested farmlands at Nayinaa-madu GS division in Vavuniyaa North to enter their lands. 175 Eezham Tamil families own the lands since they were given 10 acres per family in 1982. Later, due to massacres carried out by the occupying Sinhala military and Sinhala homeguards paramilitary, the landowners who had planted Palmyra trees were unable to maintain their farms. The entire area had become forested again during the times of war. All attempts by the landowners to regain their lands after 2009 have failed as the SL Forest Department has been blocking them from entering the lands. Now, the lands are about to be secretly transferred to Sinhala colonists, TNA Parliamentarian Sivaskathi Ananthan has said.

SL Police sustains impunity for crimes of structural genocide in North-East

The genocidal State of Sri Lanka has been allowed to get off scot-free from international investigations by the global and regional State actors, who are locked in the geo-political game. As the crimes during the times of war have not been subjected to criminal prosecution, the occupying SL State also finds it easy to sustain impunity for crimes being committed against Tamil social activists and public officials in the East, especially in the Tamil villages of Batticaloa district, Tamil activists in the district complain. The structural genocide against Eezham Tamils cannot be prevented through internal justice mechanisms as impunity is maintained through the police system of the unitary State, they said.

Occupying Colombo attempts to hamper investigation on Kudaththanai murder by SL police

A serious question is being raised by rights activists in Jaffna on the underlying motive of SL police of gunning down 24-year-old Yogarajah Thinesh on Sunday while he was transporting illegally scooped sand at Kudaththanai in Vadamaraadchi East. Whether the SL police was hunting a competing group of sandscoopers who were not paying the share to the SL military, or whether the SL police is attempting to cover up something in the investigations, question the rights activists. The occupying SL military with the backing of police exploits the business of illegal scooping of sand in Kudaththanai making millions of rupees of income every month. In the name of conducting investigations on the killing of the Tamil youth, the fellow workers who were in the vehicle, are going to be subjected to harassment undermining the investigation.

STF deployed escalating tension in Vadamaraadchi after civilian shot and killed by SL Police

Two policemen of occupying Sri Lanka shot and killed a daily wage worker on Sunday in Jaffna while he was in a vehicle that was transporting illegally scooped sand. The SL policemen chasing the vehicle in their motorbike have intentionally fired targeting the youth who was seated on top of the sand load, the family said. The victim, 24-year-old Yogarajah Thinesh, had lost his father in the genocidal war and the family was dependent on him. He was looking after the family of his sister, who had also lost her husband in the war, the relatives said. Tension prevailed in Thunnaalai in Vadamaraadchi South-West on Sunday and Monday as the villagers were agitating against the SL police, demanding the killers to be identified and brought to justice. SL military and STF were preparing to cordon off and deploy a crackdown style arrest operation after the funeral on Tuesday, the residents alleged.

Western funding deployed to suppress voices of Tamil women in Batticaloa

An Oadda-maavadi based NGO outfit, known as ‘Eastern Social Development Foundation’ (ESDF) is actively engaged by the occupying Colombo to contain the protests from female-led Tamil families in Batticaloa, Tamil activists in Batticaloa say. The families of persons subjected to enforced disappearance at the hands of SL military and its paramilitary groups are being selectively targeted. The ESDF is deploying funds from USA and UN agencies, Tamil activists in Batticaloa alleged. However, an informed source close to Buhary Mohammed, the founder and CEO of the outfit, said that the funds were in fact flowing from UK-based Commonwealth Foundation, Luxembourg based Government agency and PADEM and a Luxembourg-based NGO which is funded by France.

Tamil Genocide and Resistance to be commemorated in north of Ireland

The Remembrance Day is to be marked at Belfast and in Derry, with memorial functions at republican cemeteries and at memorial sites followed by screening of documentaries and public meetings. The move reflects increasing efforts at solidarity-building with the grassroots of oppressed nations and progressive forces in the Western hemisphere in order to internationalize the Eezham Tamil struggle and to build solidarity for their quest for equality, self-determination and justice, the organizers told TamilNet on Sunday. The Sinn Féin has also expressed its support to the Mu’l’livaaykkaal Genocide Remembrance, whcih is to be held in Derry and Belfast, the organizers further said.

Genocidal Colombo schemes fresh Sinhala military colony in Champoor

The Sinhala colonial Governor to the Eastern Province, Kalupage Austin Fernando, a former Defence Secretary of the occupying Sri Lankan military and Sinhala Government Agent of Trincomalee District, N.A.A. Pushpakumara, another Sinhala official of Colombo have made the necessary arrangements. Initial work has already started for the construction of houses. A hospital and a Sinhala school are also included in the plan, informed Tamil-speaking sources in Trincomalee told TamilNet this week.

North-East shuts down, Tamil protests gain momentum

Only the notorious ‘Special Task Force’ (STF) commandos of genocidal Sri Lanka and street dogs were plying the roads of Jaffna city on Thursday when North-East was brought to a complete standstill by trade unions, civil groups and the struggle-centric political parties among the Eezham Tamils, heeding the call from the families of enforced-disappeared people in Vanni. The shutdown also received the support of Tamil-speaking Muslims at several places in the North-East. Even a trade union, which was reluctant to heed the call extended full support in Vavuniyaa. Sinhala homeguards grab lands for colonisation in Cheddi-ku'lam, Vavuniyaa

400 acres of lands belonging to the people of Veerapuram village, located in Cheddik-ku'lam Divisional Secretariat division of Vavuniyaa district, are being seized by Sinhala homeguards. The land grab is aimed at creating a Sinhala colony, Tamil villagers complain. Tamil villagers from Veeerapuram were uprooted during the times of the war due to repeated harassment from the occupying military having camps in the nearby villages that had been occupied by the Sinhala colonists. While some of the villagers displaced to Vanni, others chose to flee to Tamil Nadu through Mannaar.

Wickramasinghe protects unpunished war criminals of SL Military Intelligence

SL military threat against civil organisations reaches serious level in Batticaloa

Sinhala military chases 850 Tamil escapees from military slavery in North
