More skeletons found in stadium grave

Investigators digging the stadium grave discovered two more human skeletons this afternoon 2.5 feet from the grave site where the bones and skulls were found on March 26. The first skeleton that was found this morning with its hands and feet tied appears to be that of a female said the Jaffna Judicial Medical Officer (JMO), S.V.Sri Rajeswaran.

Low turnout said favouring ruling party

Foreign carriers blamed for Jaffna AIDS cases

(NEWS FEATURE) Jaffna's fourth positively identified AIDS patient died yesterday at his residence in Neduntheevu. The person who had worked abroad was admitted to the Jaffna Teaching hospital in May last year. HIV tests in Colombo and Jaffna had revealed that he was suffering from advanced stages of disease. Doctors discovered that his wife, a teacher, was also infected. The patient and his family were given medical advise and sent home. He died early morning yesterday.

Magistrate orders Chemmani exhumation

Election body refutes allegations

The election monitoring body, the Centre For Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV), issued a statement at a press conference held in Colombo today in response to press reports regarding the Centre and its work. The CMEV said in its statement entitled " Refutation of Systematic Propaganda against CMEV" that it would not deal with the "malicious personal attacks" but rather concentrate on the "substantive issues raised."

Land mine attack kills four
