Fever spreads in Jaffna - typhoid feared

An unidentified fever is spreading fast in the Jaffna district. Patients who are afflicted complain of fever which shoots up at night and lasts up to four days. This has brought about a two fold increase in the patients being treated at the OPD in the Jaffna hospital, said sources in Jaffna.

Outlook for Jaffna fishermen remains bleak

9 people arrested

A special Sri Lankan Police investigation team took nine persons into custody today from Kaluwanchikudy and Kattankudy in Batticaloa in connection with the vehicle bomb blast in Galle on Sunday. Five of the arrested persons were women said Police sources in Batticaloa. The nine persons have been taken to Colombo they said.

Unroadworthy buses sent to Jaffna

Vehicle explodes near Naval detachment
