SL Presidential ‘Commission’ continues to deceive families of enforced disappeared

[TamilNet, Monday, 28 March 2016, 23:29 GMT]
0The ‘Presidential Commission to Investigate Complaints regarding Missing Persons’ (PCICMP) has held 3-day long public sittings at Mullaiththeevu District Secretariat last week and proceeded to Mannaar on Monday with the second session of sittings. The mothers and wives of persons, who have been subjected to enforced disappearances during the genocidal war and its immediate aftermath, blamed the occupying Sri Lanka Navy as the major culprit behind many disappearances that have taken place in Mannaar. In the meantime, the PCICMP ‘Commission’, which lacks credibility among the population, was engaged in deceiving the families through prompting them to consider receiving ‘death’ certificates. “We were handled as beneficiaries and not as witnesses,” a mother in Mannaar told TamilNet adding that Maithiripala Sirisena's ‘Commission’ was trying to substitute justice with ‘supplies’.

Colombo proceeds unabatedly with military, STF deployment in Batticaloa

[TamilNet, Saturday, 19 March 2016, 23:00 GMT]
0The ‘Defence Ministry’ of genocidal Sri Lanka has instructed the District Secretariat of Batticaloa through the SL Ministry of Public Administration and Management in Colombo to permanently transfer the ownership of the lands belonging to the Divisional Secretariat office of Eruvilpattu South at Ka'luvaagnchik-kudi. The STF units, formed during the times of late SL President J.R. Jayawardene and trained by the British, were further strengthened by his successor, the late SL President Ranasinghe Premadasa. The STF camped at the premises of DS office in 1990 is still stationed there despite the end of war in Batticaloa in 2007. A torture chamber is located inside this notorious camp where several Eezham Tamils abducted by the white-van squads in the past, have been subjected to ‘enforced disappearances’. Ka'luvaagnchik-kudi is located about 30 km south of Batticaloa on Kalmunai road.

Uprooted Tamils in Jaffna to launch occupy movement carrying ‘white-flags’

[TamilNet, Saturday, 27 February 2016, 21:31 GMT]
The uprooted Eezham Tamils from Valikaamam North in Jaffna, languishing in so-called welfare camps in Jaffna for 25 years, on Friday resolved that they were no longer prepared to wait in silence trusting the empty promises from David Cameron made in 2013 to Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein in 2016 that they would be soon resettled. The genocidal State of Sri Lanka and its occupying Sinhala military, being groomed as a ‘Lascarine’ force, have transformed their lands from ‘High Security Zone’ into ‘Sinhala Military Zone’. Now, the SL Defence Secretary in Colombo has claimed that Colombo is to sign an agreement with India in June on transforming SL military occupied Palaali airport into an international airport and that the uprooted people should only expect alternative lands citing ‘development’.

Colombo accelerates demographic genocide along border villages of Batticaloa

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 17 February 2016, 22:55 GMT]
Rural Development Society representatives from the villages situated along the border of Batticaloa district in the Eastern Province, complain that their native villages are being systematically Sinhalicised under the Maithiripala regime. The occupying Sinhala military has brought a number of extremist Buddhist monks into these villages in recent times. Buddhist temples (Pansala) and SL military positions have been mushrooming along these villages since 2007 when Sinhala military brought the entire district under its control. The same pattern of structural occupation is also observed along the Tamil villages bordering the Polonnaruwa district, which is the native district of SL President Maithiripala Sirisena.

Colombo silently consolidates military positions facing Gulf of Mannaar

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 16 February 2016, 23:43 GMT]
0The occupying Sinhala military of genocidal Sri Lanka has been silently consolidating its temporary positions and camps into permanent structures inside the limits of Mannaar Urban Council area within the last 30 days. There are more than 6,000 Sinhala military personnel within the UC area where 25,000 civilians reside. The SL Army, Navy and the STF troopers are stationed at more than 15 positions within the 27 square km. The systematic consolidation of the naval and army cantonments, camps, and positions has taken place despite clear demands from the civil sources to de-militarize the densely populated UC area. The strategic part of the district, commanding both the Palk Bay and the Gulf of Mannaar as well as commanding the closest communication line with the Tamil Nadu coast, has become a hive of intense Sinhala militarisation and demographic changes in recent times.

Tamils should conceive alternative investigations: rights activists in Batticaloa

[TamilNet, Friday, 12 February 2016, 23:45 GMT]
Not a single person has been arrested by the Colombo government despite 450 persons giving testimony in the district of Batticaloa at the three sittings held so far by the Presidential Commission to Investigate into Complaints regarding Missing Persons (PCICMP), one under Rajapaksa regime and two sittings under the present Sirisena - Wickrasinghe regime, Tamil rights activists in Batticaloa told TamilNet on Friday. The modus operandi of the SL commissions of the past and present, including the new ones that are being launched by the current regime incorporating Tamil ‘collaborators’ from Batticaloa and Jaffna, is nothing new to Eezham Tamils. Global Tamils should conceive universal models of justice without getting locked into the so-called Transnational Justice advocates coming through Colombo, the activists further said.

Colombo continues to demographically erase Tamil villages in Ampaa'rai

[TamilNet, Sunday, 03 January 2016, 08:32 GMT]
Uprooted Eezham Tamils from Kanakar-kiraamam village in Ampaa'rai district complain that their lands have been permanently seized by Maithiripala Sirisena's Mahaweli Ministry in Colombo through SL Forest Department in December 2015. Colombo continues to deploy Sinhala military at Tamil settlements. The Tamil villagers who received permit lands in mid 1970s have been unable to renew their permits as they were uprooted from these settlements. The mechanisms that come under the provincial and central ministries operate with the motive of permanently erasing these settlements. Ever since 1956, when the Tamils in the district were chased out from their traditional and later settlements for the first time, the successive regimes in Colombo have operated against resettlement of Tamils in Ampaa'rai, Tamil civil officials complain citing the latest example of Kanakar-kiraamam.

[TamilNet, Thursday, 24 December 2015, 13:11 GMT]
0Eezham Tamil fisher families, who were uprooted from the strategic coastal village of Vidaththal-theevu in Mannaar mainland during the times of war, are again facing pressure from Mannaar District Secretariat officials to vacate from Koanthaip-piddi jetty and their temporary settlement at Thoadda-ve’li, situated in Mannaar island, where they have been residing for 16 years since their displacement. Meanwhile, the naval officers of the occupying Sri Lanka Navy, which has already seized 90% of their jetty in Vidaththal-theevu, claimed in November this year that the SLN would be seizing more coastal lands at Vidaththaltheevu. The navy of genocidal Sri Lanka is transforming the naval installation at Vidaththal-theevu into a full-fledged naval cantonment.

Renewed spirit of resistance in Biafra

[TamilNet, Sunday, 20 December 2015, 23:09 GMT]
What was believed as the disintegration of the Biafran struggle following Nigeria’s internationally backed genocidal war, has been proven wrong by the recent popular grass-root movement among the people of the former territories of Biafra in the South and South-East of Nigeria, calling for independence throughout their homeland. The Nigerian state response is repression, during their clamp down on a pro-Biafra protest on the 2nd December in Anambra state, Nigerian security forces opened fire killing nine civilians. The resurgence in the call for self-determination and sovereignty in the former territories of Biafra, comes at a time when peoples’ have renewed their demand for self-determination in Catalonia, Eelam, Northern Ireland, Northern Kurdistan and West-Papua.

Tamil leadership need not shy away or react to unfair challenge coming from Sumanthiran

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 04 November 2015, 03:34 GMT]
The Eezham Tamil leadership should positively consider seeking pardon from the Tamil-speaking Muslims, explaining the dynamics, going back to the root of the evil lying in the mentality of the sections of elite of all sides in upholding the colonially created Colombo-centric genocidal State in the island and its patrons outside, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island. The Muslim grievances, as often highlighted by them, do not begin from the LTTE eviction of Muslims from Jaffna. They start from Sir. P. Ramanathan, lawyering and achieving impunity for the Colombo-centric Sinhala leadership’s crimes against Muslims in the Puththa'lam pogrom of 1915. The dynamics of Colombo, now added with international partners in deploying ‘lawyers’ to seek impunity continues to this day, the activists said.

Occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka silently grabs more lands in North

[TamilNet, Thursday, 15 October 2015, 06:56 GMT]
0After securing secret deals with the major powers on the continuation of the occupying Sri Lanka Army as the lascarine force needed to maintain the artificial unity of the island coupled with the external ambitions of global domination, the new regime of the genocidal State in Colombo has encouraged its Gajaba Regiment to permanently seize more lands in the strategic enclave of Poonakari (Pooneryn), which is situated at the entrance to Jaffna Peninsula facing the Palk Bay. Similar occupation is also reported in Ki'laali, the former defence line situated on the other entry route to Jaffna through Vanni mainland. The SL military has been surveying the lands without the public noticing them along the coast of the Jaffna lagoon this week. However, landowners of Kailaayar-thoaddam in Poonakari confronted the SL military on Tuesday.

Hybrid Mechanism saves State lacking political will, fools Tamils: NESoHR

[TamilNet, Thursday, 17 September 2015, 07:43 GMT]
0North East Secretariat on Human Rights (NESoHR), which was formed during the internationally mediated peace process as the Human Rights body of the Tamil Nation and functioned in the Tamil homeland from July 2004 till January 2009, has categorically rejected the Hybrid Mechanism, recommended by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad al Hussein while the much expected report of the Human Rights (OHCHR) investigation on Sri Lanka (OISL) was made public on Wednesday. “Eelam Tamils know and should know that the UN, and through the UN the USA, has done the minimum to appear neutral in face of mountain of evidence. This is the knowledge that should prevent Eelam Tamils from being fooled by the hybrid mechanism that can never work without the ‘domestic political will,’ which is absent even in the current Sri Lankan government,” NESoHR said in a statement issued on Thursday.

US deceit worse than India, China opposition

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 15 September 2015, 23:03 GMT]
Rather than questioning the consistent opposition of India and China for any international investigation on ‘Sri Lanka’, Tamils targeting the US move for domestic investigation in the current UNHRC session is condemnable, argues a Tamil Nadu based environmental NGO of special consultative status with UN ECOSOC. The ‘international investigation’ is already over with the OISL process and referring the matter to the ICC depends mainly on the support of India and China, the NGO argues further for containing the anger and protests in Tamil Nadu against the USA. The US move, hijacking the Tamil struggle for international justice since 2009, and institutionally ditching it at the UNHRC in 2015, is worse than the game of India and China in suppressing the struggle of Eezham Tamils, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island.

Relay race for genocide sanctified as ‘Good Governance’ by USA: Jude Lal

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 09 September 2015, 00:01 GMT]
0The SLFP/UPFA, UNP, JHU and the JVP have all claimed their share in the genocidal ‘military victory’ against the Tamils. The Sinhala liberal intelligentsia describes the trend as a ‘relay race’, where each Sinhala political leader had taken turns in contributing to the victory, says Professor Jude Lal of Trinity College, Dublin, in an interview to TamilNet on Tuesday. “There is an inherent racism within the so-called project of good governance, which is based on a victor’s mentality. The agenda of the ‘good governance’ did not arise from the Sinhala society. It was part of the US-sponsored UN resolution and a facade to cover up crimes committed against the Tamil people by the Sri Lankan state,” the exiled Sinhala academic says adding that the political power of the ‘Sinhala Supremacist State’ is at its peak at the moment.
