SL military, Buddhist monk bring Sinhala ‘War Heroes’ project to Batticaloa

The so-called ‘Ranaviru Seva Authority’ (War Heroes Welfare Authority), an outfit operated by the Defence Ministry of genocidal Sri Lanka to support the families of war-dead soldiers and the wounded soldiers of the occupying Sinhala military has expanded its work to Batticaloa in close association with the Sinhala extremist monk Venerable Ampitiye Sumanarathna Thera, informed civil sources in the city of Batticaloa said. The main intention is to bring in poverty-stricken families of ‘Sinhala war heroes’ to occupy the country of Eezham Tamils through so-called ‘welfare settlements’ in the Tamil-speaking district.

Sinhala colonists advance 3 km further into Batticaloa, erect 2nd Buddhist temple in 1 year

Sinhala colonists from Polonna'ruwa, the home district of SL President Maithiripala Sirisena, have advanced 3 km further into the pasturelands in Koara'laip-pattu South (Kiraan) division of Batticaloa district in the occupied country of Eezham Tamils within the last 12 months, Tamil cattle farmers from Chiththaa'ndi told TamilNet on Wednesday. A second Buddhist temple is being hurriedly put up by the Sinhala colonists at Maathava'nai , the Tamil cattle herders said. A Sinhala squad, led by a Buddhist monk, assaulted the Tamil farmers who went close to the Buddhist temple searching for missing cattle a few days ago. The Sinhala monk seized their mobile phone SIM cards. The cattle herders said the second Buddhist temple is located 3 km east of the Buddhist temple constructed almost a year ago. The area was part of the de-facto Tamil State defended by the Tamil Tigers until 2007.

Sinhala Police wants SL Judiciary to investigate Tamil students first

While Sinhalese students are demanding a sub-station of SL Police to be established inside the premises of the University of Jaffna, the police of genocidal Sri Lanka have filed cases against 5 Tamil students. The Tamil students, including the Student Union leader who was assaulted by the Sinhalese students, have to present themselves at Jaffna Court on 25 August, informed sources at the University of Jaffna told TamilNet on Sunday. In the meantime, 4 Sinhalese students have to present themselves on 10 September, the sources further said.

Gaining more ‘time and space’ at Geneva, Colombo steps up genocidal grip on Eezham Tamils in Vanni

While the genocidal-paradigm is upheld by the powers through a passive discourse at Geneva, the CSD under Maithiripala Sirisena is absorbing more farmlands through Sinhala military corporatism. The enslaved Eezham Tamils are to be deployed as slaves and more Tamil children are going to be subjected to brainwashing by the SL military. In the meantime, the income generated from the military-run farms is being channelled to employ a Sinhala-only armed paramilitary, known as Civil Defence Force (CDF) to colonize strategic Tamil lands along the coast and the interior borders of the occupied country of Eezham Tamils.

Ko’ndachchi becomes hub of Maithiripala regime’s Sinhala colonization in Mannaar

The occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka has transformed 6,000 acres of cashew plantation farm lands in the Musali division of Mannaar district in the country of Eezham Tamils as the hub of Sinhala military colonization targeting Musali. The so-called Sinhala home guards, which is uniformed and paid paramilitary force named Civil Security Force (CSF) and the SL Navy are controlling the entire farm, situated in Mannaar district bordering Anurathapura and Puththa’lam districts. The Cashew Corporation was earlier under the Ministry of Plantation Industries. But, after the change of government last year, the plantation has been brought under SL Ministry of Public Enterprises Development. In reality, the SL Defence Ministry is maintaining the area as a military corporatist establishment and as an entertainment base for Sinhala Navy.

Structural genocide targets Kudumpimalai despite Tamil protests, media focus

Despite repeated protests coming from Village (GS) Officers in Batticaloa district against the recent assault on Tamil GS Officer Shanmugam Guru by a group of Sinhala soldiers, the occupying Sinhala military is continuing illegal logging of trees in the interior jungle hamlet of Kudumpimalai. The demograhic genocide is being spearheaded by Colombo’s Forest Department that comes under the direct supervision of SL President Maithiripala Sirisena, Divisional Secretariat officials in Kiraan told TamilNet. The SL Forest Department is planning to create a Sinhala colony for agricultural farmers from the bordering Anuradhapura district and elsewhere in the South, they said.

Colombo's TID interrogates Tamil paramilitary operative

Colombo's ‘Terrorist’ Investigation Division (TID) officers are interrogating a 29-year-old Tamil paramilitary operative from Thenmaraadchi, Jaffna, in connection with the discovery of explosives in March at the village of Ma'ravanpulavu, informed sources told TamilNet on Wednesday. Sivarasa Sivakulan alias Murali, who has been a close confidant of former SL Military Commander in Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe and who was actively involved in SLFP election campaigns in Thenmaraadchi during the regime of Mahinda Rajapaksa, is the one subjected to interrogations at the notorious 4th Floor in Colombo. Mr Sivakulan has also been a close friend of the present SL Governor of Northern Province Mr Reginald Cooray, informed sources in Jaffna said. He was detained on 11 June.

Family receives death threat for alerting GS officer on SL military exploitation of natural resources

A family has been forced to seek security with its relatives and friends in Koara'laip-pattu South (Kiraan) DS division of Batticaloa this week after a two-member squad of ‘unknown’ persons, who came in a motorbike on Sunday (05 June) issued death threats to the family alleging it for passing information to the Village (GS) Officer about illegal logging and related military trade taking place at the interior jungle outlet of Kudumpimalai, 63 km northwest of Batticaloa city. On 01 June, Shanmugam Guru, the GS officer who was trying to investigate the exploitation was told by the armed persons in civil clothes that they belonged to SL military. When the GS officer asked to document their permit and identity, he was taken to nearby camp and brutally assaulted. The GS officer was told not to interfere in ‘military matters’. Now, a family has received death threat from ‘unknown’ persons.

SL military brutally assaults Tamil Village Officer in Batticaloa

A group of five Sinhala soldiers, who were engaged in illegal tree cutting, abducted Village Officer (GS) Shanmugam Guru and brutally assaulted him at a military camp causing serious injuries to him. The incident took place at Kudumpi-malai, 63 km northwest of Batticaloa city on Wednesday. The Sinhala soldiers were in civil clothes. Two of them were having automatic rifles. When the Tamil GS officer questioned them whether they were having permit to cut trees, the group responded that they belonged to SL military and that they were having permission to cut trees. The GS officer then asked the group to document that they were in possession of such permit along with their identity. The soldiers took Mr Shanmugam Guru to the nearby military camp, where he was subjected to life-threatening assault.

Protest by dairy farmers brings EPC Minister, GA to inspect Sinhala occupation in Batticaloa

After seizing around 16,000 acres of lands, which were officially allocated as grazing lands for the cattle in the Batticaloa district, more than 300 families of Sinhala colonisers from Polonnaruwa, Badulla and Moneragala districts have started to construct a Buddhist temple under the leadership of a former Sinhala policeman at Mayilaththamadu, which comes under Koa'ra'laip-pattu South (Kiraan) division of Batticaloa district. The area was under LTTE administration during the times of war and peace until 2007. The occupying ‘Sri Lanka’ Army is having a artillery base near the new Buddhist temple, which has been put up after January 2016. The SL Government Agent of Batticaloa and Eastern Provincial Agriculture Minister inspected the illegal occupation as 259 Tamil dairy farmers started to boycott their daily supply of 3,000 litres milk to Milco from May 1st demanding immediate action.

Colombo accelerates demographic genocide along border villages of Batticaloa

Rural Development Society representatives from the villages situated along the border of Batticaloa district in the Eastern Province, complain that their native villages are being systematically Sinhalicised under the Maithiripala regime. The occupying Sinhala military has brought a number of extremist Buddhist monks into these villages in recent times. Buddhist temples (Pansala) and SL military positions have been mushrooming along these villages since 2007 when Sinhala military brought the entire district under its control. Sinhalese from South grab temple lands of Eezham Tamils in Ampaa’rai

Two Sinhalese from Matara district in the Southern Province are trying to seize 8 acres of lands that belong to 50-year-old Saiva temple in Poththuvil of Ampaa'rai district using false documents, the management of the Chiththi Vinaayakar temple told TamilNet on Monday. The Sinhala extremists who are engaged in seizing lands from Tamils in the district in the Eastern province have deployed a former Sri Lankan Presidential Coordinator from Poththuvil and a former paramilitary operative as their agents, Tamil officials at the District Secretariat said verifying that the lands belong to the Hindu temple. There is a systematic pattern of genocidal land grab taking place in the district, the officials alleged citing similar cases from several other locations in the district.

Family questions whereabouts of abducted journalist last seen in SL custody in 2012

Tamil journalist Subramaniam Ramachandran, who was abducted by the SL military in February 2007 in front of Kalikai junction military camp at Karaveddi in Vadamaraadchi, Jaffna, was last seen alive in the custody of Sinhala military at the notorious camp at Pallappai in the same area in 2012, according to his 55-year-old sister Jeyaratnam Kamalashini. The SL military vacated from Pallappai a year later in 2013 and instructed the people not to dig the abandoned wells in an attempt to cover up alleged mass graves. The genocidal State of Sri Lanka still refuses to reveal the whereabouts of the father of two children. Despite reports of alleged mass graves, there have been no efforts by the judiciary of ‘Sri Lanka’ to excavate the killing fields. Reporters in Jaffna question the advice by the visiting UN Human Rights Chief to expect delivery of justice through the ‘Sri Lankan’ judiciary.

Resettelement of Tamils confronted on several fronts in Batticaloa

Colombo finds new ways to extend detention of Tamil political prisoners

The Tamil prisoners, who are being indefinitely detained for several years in the prisons of occupying Colombo, are going to be subjected for prolonged proceedings once more under a new Colombo-based ‘special court’, legal sources in Jaffna said. There are cases where false confessions obtained under torture by the Sri Lankan ‘Terrorist’ Investigation Division (TID) have been already rejected by the district courts in the North and East. These prisoners were awaiting their cases to be dismissed. But, the judiciary of occupying Sri Lanka wants their cases to be addressed again in Colombo.

Systematic enforced disappearances, an international crime, says Boyle
