Karikalan condemns Karuna as Pol Pot

"The Sinhala nation should come forward soon to resume peace talks with the Liberation Tigers for establishing the Interim Self Governing Authority," the manifesto states.

TNA submits nomination lists for NE electoral districts

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Monday noon submitted its nominations for the five electoral districts, Jaffna, Vanni, Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Amparai, in the Tamil dominated northeast province. TNA fielded its candidates in the name of the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK) and its election symbol "HOUSE". The ITAK last contested in the 1970 elections under the leadership of late Tamil leader Mr.S.J.V.Chelvanayakam ("Thanthai Chelva"), political sources said.

Colombo political crisis discussed in Jaffna Seminar

A two-day seminar on "The current political crisis and the peace process" organized by the Centre for Women and Development (CWD) began Saturday morning in Jaffna Navalar Cultural Hall where topics related to political crisis in Colombo, LTTE's Interim Self Governing Authority (ISGA) proposals, problems in the current Sri Lanka constitution and other matters related to the Peace Process were discussed, civil sources said.

Jaffna to launch pro-peace signature campaign on 4th February

Criminals terrorise Udupiddy under SLA's aegis

Civil society groups, residents and school students from Udupiddy in Jaffna Monday complained to the Sri Lankan Monitoring Mission (SLMM) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) that Sri Lanka army is providing special protection to local criminals who are on a bloody rampage in the village. One of the criminals attacked and grievously wounded Mr. A. S. Sivagnanam, senior resident of Udupiddy, with an army bayonet Sunday at the Veerapthirar Temple.

British military team visits Jaffna

Shops, offices and workplaces were closed to mark the final day of the weeklong remembrance.

Lt. Col. Thileepan memorial re-opened in Nallur

‘HSZ in Jaffna expanded post ceasefire'

Ex-EPDP member killed in grenade explosion

PM urged to stop SLA camp in Jaffna municipal land
