Multi-pronged structural genocide targets Periya-mu’rippu in Mannaar

Eezham Tamil villagers from Periya-mu'rippu, a remote hamlet situated 65 km southwest of Mannaar city and 18 km south from Mannaar - Medawachiya A-14 Road in Madu division, narrated to TamilNet this week how they were facing a multi-pronged structural annihilation coming through the hierarchy of genocidal Sri Lanka. While Colombo's structural and demographic annihilation continues unabated in the country of Eezham Tamils, Washington and New Delhi remain adamant in upholding the genocidal unitary State through their imperialist outlook shaped by geopolitics. The ultimate culprits have not only denied Tamils international justice, they also continue to impose a Colombo-centric ‘development’ agenda, which is coupled to their ‘counter insurgency’ operations at a trans-national level, Tamil political activists in Mannaar said, urging Tamils to understand where their responsibility lies.

Sinhala students assault Tamil student for posting Genocide Remembrance photo on Facebook

A group of Sinhala students at the Faculty of Commerce & Management at the Eastern University, situated at Vanthaa'ru-moolai in Batticaloa, assaulted a 22-year-old Tamil student on Tuesday for posting a photo of Tamil Genocide Remembrance in his Facebook account. The Tamil student, severely assaulted by the group of senior Sinhala students was admitted to Chengkaladi hospital after the incident. The SL military intelligence and SL police have been alleged of inciting violence using a section of Sinhalese students.

Jayalalithaa victory sends significant messages

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK retains government by winning 134 of 234 seats in the election results announced on Thursday. The DMK and its allies led by Kalaignar Karunanidhi have secured 98 seats. No other party or alliance has won any seat in the elections. Ms Jayalalithaa leading the Tamil Nadu Assembly, resolving repeatedly and unanimously demanding international investigation on Eezham Tamil genocide and referendum for Tamil Eelam, has made an international impact against the stand of New Delhi and Washington complicit in the genocide. Efforts were made to silence her. The endorsement she now gets from the people of Tamil Nadu is a fitting answer, commented Eezham Tamil political observers.

Genocide Day marked in 3 districts of Eastern Province

The students of the Eastern University situated at Vanthaa'ru-moolai in Batticaloa, civil society members and TNA politicians in Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampaa'rai district observed Genocide Remembrance Day events and memorial prayers at churches and temples on Wednesday. The Tamil National People's Front (TNPF) organised a memorial event at Vaakaarai, one of the most war-affected areas subjected to structural genocide under heavy militarisation in the Batticaloa district. In the meantime, the Tamil Peoples Council (TPC) organised memorial events at the historic Hindu temple and in a church in Batticaloa. TNA politicians working among the grassroots also travelled to North to attend the remembrance event at Mu'l'livaaykkal in Vanni on Wednesday.

Colombo's attempt to survey church lands for permanent militarisation foiled at Poonakari

Three days after the last attempt to survey the lands belonging to 6 families and a Saiva temple at Paraman-kirray in the strategically situated Poonakari, the occupying navy of genocidal Sri Lanka attempted on Thursday to survey lands belonging to St. Jude's Church at Pa'l'lik-kudaa in Poonakari without prior notice. However, the Parish Priest of the church and more than 100 villagers blocked the survey department officials, who were brought to the spot with SL Navy escort, news sources in Poonakari said. In addition to the protest, the public spontaneously mobilised making a written signature campaign against the militarisation. The SL military intelligence operatives and SL Navy sailors were taking photos of the journalists who were covering the protest and recording video of the protestors in a threatening manner, news sources further said.

Eezham Tamils protest against continued military land grab at strategic Poonakari

Around 6,000 Tamil families, dependent on agriculture and fishing, live in the heavily garrisoned Poonakari division where more than 30,000 Sinhala soldiers are stationed.

War-affected, poverty-stricken Tamil villagers complain of neglect in housing assistance

104 Eezham Tamil families, who have resettled in Isaimalaith-thaazhvu village, which is located 3 km southeast of Murungkan town along Mannaar - Mathavaachchi Road in Naanaaddaan division, complain that they are being systematically neglected in all the housing schemes reaching Mannaar district. The families, mostly dependent on animal farming or agriculture close to their temporary huts, live below the poverty line, and are among the poorest in Mannaar district. Their houses were either demolished or taken over by the occupying SL military and the notorious Special Task Force (STF) in February 1997 during the brutal military operation code named ‘Edibala’.

Colombo's structural genocide targets Tamil village at Mahaweli delta in Trincomalee

The current regime of Maithiripala Sirisena, who has been the minister of ‘Mahaweli scheme’ for several years now, is silently spearheading the occupation of thousands of acres of farmlands, both in the name of ‘development’ and through illegal settlements in Trincoamlee. The focal point of Sinhalicisation and militarisation during the former regime of Mahinda Rajapaksa was coastal Trincomalee, particularly the Champoor area in Moorthoor division. But, the regime of present ‘Mahaweli’ genocidaire has shifted the focus to larger plains of farmlands, 18 km south of Moothooor. The Tamil farmers from the ancient village of Kangkuveali recently narrated how they experience the structural genocide in a video interview to TamilNet. If the SL State and those who back it don't put an end to the structural genocide, another war would be inevitable, they warn.

While the current regime of genocidal Sri Lanka is engaged in propaganda activities through donating houses to sections of Eezham Tamils to showcase its ‘one-way reconciliation’, especially through media involving journalists from South, the majority of uprooted Tamils are being systematically kept away from resettling in their villages, accused T. Kalaiyarasan, an elected member of the Eastern Provincial Council, on Sunday. The Tamil families who resettled on their own effort in are being systematically harassed in Ampaa'rai. Not a single journalist from South has ever exposed this systemic neglect, the EPC Councillor said. Colombo government's Archaeology Department, Forest Department and Wildlife Departments are working closely with Buddhist monks and the occupying Sinhala military to keep the Tamils away from their traditional villages in Ampaa'rai district, he said.

Resettling Tamils confront SL Navy consolidating deployment along Northern cost

The resettling villagers of Cheanthaan-ku'lam near I'lavaalai in Jaffna successfully blocked the occupying Sri Lankan Navy (SLN) from seizing the lands belonging to St. Anne's Church on Tuesday when the SLN of genocidal Sri Lanka brought Survey Department officials to survey 4 acres of lands situated between Maathakal and Keerimalai along the coast. The SL Navy from ‘Uttara’ naval cantonment in Kaangkeasan-thu'rai (KKS) was attempting for the fourth time to survey and seize the lands for a ‘coastal observation point’. The beach of Cheanthaan-ku'lam was a former Sri Lankan military ‘High Security Zone’, situated near Maathakal and Kaangkeasanthu'rai in Valikaamam North. The resettling people have blocked the SL Navy from carrying out the survey.

Colombo resumes surveillance of Eezham Tamils through ‘registration’ in Batticaloa

Occupying Colombo's Sinhala police, the intelligence operatives of the SL State and military surveillance officers are conducting fresh ‘registrations’ of people living across the 14 divisions of Batticaloa district, citing section 76 of the SL ‘Police Ordinance’ which states that householders should furnish the officer of police of his or her division with a list of all the inmates in the house and that any change occurring in the households should be reported to the police or legal authorities of the SL State. The surveillance measure is now being systematically implemented in the entire district of Batticaloa. In addition, Sinhala military intelligence officers are visiting selected households every month and some others every third month. Those who have been in Vanni earlier are being harassed with ‘terrorist’ questions, Tamil civil sources in Batticaloa told TamilNet on Friday.

Colombo accelerates demographic genocide along border villages of Batticaloa

Rural Development Society representatives from the villages situated along the border of Batticaloa district in the Eastern Province, complain that their native villages are being systematically Sinhalicised under the Maithiripala regime. The occupying Sinhala military has brought a number of extremist Buddhist monks into these villages in recent times. Buddhist temples (Pansala) and SL military positions have been mushrooming along these villages since 2007 when Sinhala military brought the entire district under its control. The same pattern of structural occupation is also observed along the Tamil villages bordering the Polonnaruwa district, which is the native district of SL President Maithiripala Sirisena.

Resettelement of Tamils confronted on several fronts in Batticaloa

Tamil families that are dependent on freshwater fishing are unable to withstand Sinhala intruders exploiting their catch. Farmers are robbed off their cattle by Sinhala colonisers. On top of everything, wild elephant attacks taking place during the nights have dashed the hopes of sustaining their lives and properties in 60 villages, the affected people say.
