TELO funerals amid apprehension

Tigers ambush in Palaly zone

Fighting erupted between the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) and the Liberation Tigers yesterday at Kerniyadi in Erlaalai in Jaffna yesterday around 1 p.m. said sources in the north. The Liberation Tigers had attacked a group of soldiers on patrol in the area. Five SLA troops might have been killed in the confrontation according to unconfirmed reports.

Army demolishes shops
