SLA patrol attacked in Vantharumoolai

3 Sri Lankan soldiers were wounded when the Liberation Tigers who came in a camouflaged tractor attacked a SLA patrol at Vantharumoolai this afternoon, around 3.30 p.m. The tractor had come in the direction of Kaluvankerni, a coastal village where the Sri Lankan Army is not present.

Batticaloa vehicles barred

Under the new regulation introduced yesterday, no vehicles from Batticaloa will be allowed beyond two boarder points to Colombo. According to the new travel regulation, which came into effect, at 12.00 noon yesterday, all the vehicles from Batticaloa would be stopped at Manampittiya on the Batticaloa-Polannaruwa border and people and goods will be transferred to vehicles brought from Colombo at this point.

Civilians assaulted after grenade explosion

Civilians were severely assaulted at Kurunagar jetty in the Jaffna town this morning around 10.30 a.m., after a grenade went off nearby. Many fishermen at the jetty were assaulted by the Sri Lankan Army in the area. People who were passing by were also severely beaten up by SLA soldiers, said sources in Jaffna town. No one was injured in the explosion.

Sea tigers sink SLN boat

Eravur explosion kills six
